    A Tibette Beginning

    Chapter 1

     

    Bette sat behind her desk trying to go over lay out of the magazine for the hundredth time when the phone rang again for what seemed to be the millionth time since she got in today.

    “L Magazine, How may I help you” Bette said rolling her eyes

    “No, she’s in a meeting can I take a message, ok sure I’ll let her know, thank you bye”

    “Fuck, Fuck!! At this rate I’m not going to get anything done today” Bette said to herself.

    Just then she heard a knock on the door and in walked her Chief Editor and her longest friend Alice.

    “Hey Porter! Slave driver, boss lady you hungry? I came to see if you want to head out for some lunch.”

    “No, Al you go ahead I still haven’t approved the layout for this week’s  edition, and I have to get it to the print dept. before I leave today if it’s going to be ready on time for distribution, You turn in all the articles in yet?”

    “Yup done that last night everything’s set to roll on my end”

    Just then the phone starts to ring again…..

    UUGH, Bette groaned in frustration,” I swear Alice I have a new found respect for what Allison does around here, the amount of times the phone rings alone is enough to drive someone crazy, then there was the delivery supply people this morning, the PR reps, accounting needing this and that, my God Alice I’ve hardly had time to breath let alone revise this week’s lay out, I’m telling you Al, I’m going to give Allison a raise and then pay her to get her tubes tied no more maternity leave for her!” Bette said taking a deep breath.

    “Whoa there Porter you’re just asking for trouble with the whole tube tying thing” Alice told Bette

    “Al, I was just kidding…I’m happy for her and Steve they will make great parents”

    “Bette I thought the Temp. Agency was sending someone over?”

    “Yeah, they weren’t able to get anyone here this morning, so they’re sending some over this afternoon”

    “Hope this person has some experience and thick skin, if they are going to be working with you” Alice said with a chuckle

    11. Ok a diffrent setting for an old story, I like it. I will be glad to see if it will be instant rapport or the classic rubbing each other the wrong way from the begining. PS
