The House on Ellis Hill – Teenage Tibette
Tina Kennard sits at her desk working on her computer. Her finger taps her mouse anxiously as she scrolls down the web page of an article she’s been reading for the last hour. Her eyes behind thick, black-rimmed glasses are glued to every word while her hand aches from scribbling feverishly on a yellow note pad. Her lips are pursed and a heavy scowl graces her face. She is completely immersed in the story.
Her cat lays sprawled on her lap, his soft purrs get louder when Tina scratches the back of his neck. His long, languid tail swishes back and forth in perfect rhythm with the Pink song playing on an iPod. He extends his claws and gives Tina a gentle poke whenever she stops as a reminder of what she is supposed to be doing.
Tina’s phone vibrates on her desk. She reads the text message and giggles excitedly, her eyes twinkle as her face lights up. She pulls off her glasses and throws them on top of her notes making the cat leap from her lap and walk away in a huff. He lingers near the bedroom door and meows in protest.
Tina opens the door quietly and chuckles when the cat scurries away. She looks down the hallway to her parent’s bedroom, grinning in anticipation. She knows her parents are sleeping and with the television on. She closes her door but locks it, just in case. She runs her fingers through her hair as she waltzes to her window, opening it wide and smiling as the cool breeze caressing her face.
“Hello, gorgeous.” A sweet sultry voice fills her soul and her heart skips a beat at the sight of her beautiful girlfriend grinning at her.
“Hi Baby, what took you so long.” Tina leans in for a long passionate kiss.
“My dad wanted to talk about Yale again.” Bette Porter sighs. She notices a new poster on the wall.
“Hey, that is sooo cool.” Bette’s eyes widen.
The room is decorated in not so typical teenage fashion. There are books scattered everywhere, crime dramas, mystery novels and over a dozen books by Stephen King. There are stacks of ‘Science Today’ and “ComputerWorld” as well as the latest hot teen magazine. Her walls are draped in posters of her favorite rock bands, but there is also one of Spiderman, Albert Einstein and her newest favorite, a movie poster of ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
