Chapter three
Helena was tucking into a plate of sandwiches as she watched her friends enjoying her party. She was still struggling to come to terms with everything that had happened to her in the past 48 hours. She would never take her freedom for granted again – it felt wonderful to be able to simple things like watch a late night movie and have a shower in private. She knew that she was spoilt and the long nights in jail had given her time to relive so many of the terrible things that she had done. Maybe what had happened was no more than what she deserved — but thank God she was free.
“Hey there “ Helena looked up to see Shane
“Just making sure you are okay on your own “
“I am fine – just demolishing some food – want some ?”
“Don’t mind if I do “
Shane sat down and took a sandwich. Helena was trying not to make it too obvious that she was watching Bette and she had heard so much about Shane’s powers of perception
“Must feel good to be out “
“It does – I am never going to take anything for granted again Shane – freedom is too precious “
“Must have been hard for you “
“It was good of all of you to visit me. You have no idea how much that helped – Kit even came in and gave me some good advice “
“I think all of us have sailed pretty close to the wind at times – self destruction seems to run through all of us “
“Some of us more than others – how’s Alice taking this business with Tasha ?”
“Tough – Alice has always been so out – and she tends not to understand why everyone else can’t be as well. Alice loves Tasha very much “
“I know – it’s an odd combination “
“Isn’t it just – but its good that Alice has found someone after everything that she went through with Dana “
“I had a couple of dreams about Dana while I was in jail – I think it was my way of telling myself that some people don’t get a second chance.”

Absolutely loving the story. Full of emotion and passion as well. Helena has her hands full. Bette is still negotiating the consequences of her feelings for two former lovers… it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Looking forward to the next chappie!
