    Sunday Mornings: 2 – All In A Kiss …

    Sunday Mornings: 2

Through the window the plane goes by
Watch my lips as I say good-bye
Can’t you see I don’t want to cry
    On this Sunday morning

Drop my change as I move away
Can’t you see I just want you to stay
Please don’t hate me for being this way
    On this Sunday morning

Oh, please don’t keep me hanging on
Oh, oh, oh won’t you hold me in your arms
Oh, please don’t keep me hanging on
Oh, oh, oh won’t you hold me in your arms

    On this Sunday morning …

    –    Julian Lennon

Bette lay curled beneath the sheets, having given up on counting the hours and the minutes as they ticked by until dawn, signalling a time when it was okay to be awake.

The radio beside the bed played soft tunes, echo’s of Julian Lennon’s ‘Sunday Morning’ resounding inside her head, words like ‘cry’ and ‘stay’ and ‘hold me in your arms’ all too raw and too tender against her heart as she lay awake, replaying the night before, and their kiss,

For the first time in months she lay there in the early hours of the morning unable to sleep with a smile on her face, a soft emotional grin which replaced the fretful frown of the months before thinking about schedules and work commitments and whatever argument or disagreement she’d had with Jodi that preceding week,

She shut her eyes again, wiping Jodi from her thoughts and letting the words of ‘Sunday Morning’ wash all over her again, reminding her that it was indeed Sunday, and she’d yet to spend the day with her gorgeous Angel hanging out in the sunshine by the pool, but that also, the day before was Saturday, and her Saturday night kiss with her daughter’s gorgeous Mommy, was real,

It was so real, the way she sat listening to Tina’s words, watching her as she sat there all cute and confident and unbelievably strong, telling her how she was lucky that she had Jodi,

But the words didn’t fit, everything she said felt like she was talking about someone else, someone more in love, like maybe Alice. She loved Jodi, for sure, loved so many things about her; her passion, her courage, her fearlessness. But for every likeable flaw there was the feeling she had of having to prove herself every step of the way, attest to the fact that she wasn’t judgemental, or prejudiced, or narrow-minded or the weaker of the two. So in reality, Tina’s words fell flat, not corresponding to the things she truly felt,

    1. Hi Sofa: this was a wonderful continuation of the previous night. Thanks for such sensitive insight. They are forever lovers and partners as far as I am concerned so nothing they do could even be construed as “cheating.”

    2. This was really beautiful. Thanks for sharing it. I’m glad that it seems 504 really inspired some of our best writers around here to write about it. Oddly enough, while reading this U2’s New Years Day with lyrics like “I want to be with you, be with you night and day” came on the radio.. and then Desire played after it. It was a really good soundtrack to this..

    3. tsk tsk, you posted…i did not know;) this was beautiful and poignant and mushy and cute and sweet. i’m not quite so moved by that tibette thing, but i’m moved by how damned cute you are about that whole kiss thing. heehee;) wonderfully written babe

    4. That was fantastic. Is that the next epsiode? OH, I wish, I would do such a happy dance. First Bette has to get rid of Jodi, IC are you listening. Angie’s never really seen nor felt her mothers together. What a great Sunday that would be.

    5. Hey Sofe! That was awesome! You know this was so true “She loved Jodi, for sure, loved so many things about her; her passion, her courage, her fearlessness. But for every likeable flaw there was the feeling she had of having to prove herself every step of the way” That is the worse feeling, having to prove ones self to a person who should be your other half. I sensed that somewhat last seasons, but in these few episodes even more so. I am a little worried that Bette is once again returning to some bad habits with women. Don’t get me wrong, hell I LOVEEEEEE me some TiBette, but if I was Tina, I would be a little concerned that Bette is doing this now again, behind her partner’s back. This was a great fic. Can’t wait for more. Thanks.

    6. Genius! I am so happy! Thank you for this beautiful continuation, I really enjoyed the reflection on the previous night by both characters. BTW the beginning reads very well to Bryan Adam’s Desire in the background.

    7. I loved this snippet and it came hot on the heels of the most exciting L Word night in the last 2 years. Your last line of Angelica’s “aware that kisses between Mommies was something new”, was humorous, cute and a little sad all at the same time. Well done!

    8. Brilliant, sofa! You’ve captured perfectly what I would suspect both of them felt after that emotional kiss. How delicious was that kiss!! Would love to see you expand this snippet…

    9. Hey there! :) I love the way you bring the right words together to weave such fantastic tales ….please keep on doing this thing that you do…so well! Thanks!
