Something so right
Chapter 92
Tina arrived home from work just before 6:30pm – she had said that she
would be home early but it had been a crazy day. She knew that Bette was
getting stressed out because she had received 9 texts in the last hour
from her partner all demanding to know where the hell was she. Tina
hurried into the house and went looking for Bette who was in their
bedroom
"Sorry Bette "
Bette turned and gave her a very dirty look
"Do you know that we are supposed to be leaving at 7 "
"And I will be ready – relax "
"What the hell was so important that you are late "
"I am later than I would like to have been but I will be ready in time –
hello Bette "
Bette looked exasperated but Tina went across and put her saddest puppy
dog look on glazing into Bette’s eyes.
"That’s not going to work " Bette said frowning
"Babe "
"That’s not working " Bette said again
Tina smiled softly and kissed Bette on the mouth
"Get changed "
"Babe- Bette -honey "
Bette relented and laughed – pulling her into an embrace
"You are bad "
"Yeah I know – that’s why you love me "
"Is that why ?"
"That and my personality, charm, good looks, sweet smile and how naughty
I am in bed "
Bette laughed "Sorry – I just don’t want to mess this dinner up "
"You won’t and Elizabeth and Hannah are probably as nervous as you "
"Are you not nervous ?"
"I haven’t had time – if you unhand me I take a shower"
"If you had come back when you planned we could have saved water by
having a shower together "
"Yeah " Tina pulled away " But we never actually save water that way –
we take three times as long "
"That’s because you distract me "
Tina laughed and started stripping off
"I will remind you that you said that "
Tina was true to her word – she was showered, changed and looking
sensational at 6:54. Bette had been sitting watching the news when Tina
came through.
"Do I pass inspection ?"
Bette looked up and nodded "Fantastic "

Bette you are sleeping on the couch for the rest of the week. I’m glad Tina got up and went to get some fresh air, or Bette would be removing food from her face. Tornado Tina, I’d hate to be Bette right now. Awesome post.

Oh, yeah-Finn. Whatever happened to him? Maybe Tina should go on Oprah to get this business with her parents off her chest, sort of like Mackenzie Phillips did, although her story was WAY creepier. That, or maybe some therapy, cause Tina hasn’t moved forward even a fraction of an inch.
Yikes….that was kinda a big foot in the mouth moment for Bette. I guess she’s so nervous about being with her mother and her partner that she’s not thinking straight. Please update soon…..I hate to see these two at odds with each other. :(

I know Tina is mad at Bette, but she needs to get over it. I know the truth hurts. Tina needs to get over it and deal with what she is feeling or her and Bette might not have a future. Thanks Ally PPS

something lingers in bette’s subconcious – why else blurt such a sensitive thing at that moment. some things take time to heal & tina isnt there yet – which bette already knows but seemed to forget just then. tina handled that well, considering. interesting talk ahead, thanks ally & post soon :-)

Bette…what the hell were you thinking??? After all she had been through with Tina how could she have just let that fly right out of her mouth like that. Anyway, I agree, she can’t take it back, so grovel, grovel, grovel! Fantastic update Ally, can’t wait until you update again to hear what Bette says to Tina.

I think B is very aware that her comment was a huge foot in mouth situation & was flummoxed, thus silent, as to what to do (I definitely been there & done that)….but I don’t think either Elizabeth, and especially not Hannah, have built enough of a relationship w/ B to speak “coolly” towards her….while T may be feeling embarrassed cuz of HER issues w/ her parents’ open marriage, I think B felt 1000 times worse at having her proposal publicly rejected – just my humble opinion.
I wonder why Bette is so thick-skinned around this subject when she already knows how sensitive Tina is about her parents open marriage? It seems to me to be so out of character for Bette to not mind her mouth BUT on this particular subject she’s a dunce who should be sent to the corner. She just ruined a perfect evening after T tried so hard to make it perfect for her by dressing right, getting home from work even, saying the right things, being totally and sensitively supportive—I dunno, u r a good writer becuz I feel so irritated with Bette right now that if she was within reach I’d slap her down. Whew!!! I got it out anyway!!!! Thx. Plz post soon.
Hey AllyE, Another wonderfully written chapter for this brilliant story. You expressed the tense nervousness that Bette was feeling. As well as Tina’s attempts to put her girlfriend at ease before the dinner.The meal itself was jittery to start and then started to progress sweetly. Everyone was beginning to relax and open up. Interesting discussions were being debated until Bette blurted out the truth of Tina’s parents’ open marriage. Bette knows that she has hurt Tina in the most unimaginable manner. Hannah and Elizabeth can see these gals are meant to be and quite rightly kicked Bette into touch when Tina left the table. This is now a critical stage of Bette and Tina’s relationship as Bette needs to apologize and make things right. IT has happened so Bette must prove to Tina that she was wrong and is willingly to do whatever it takes to make things right between them again. I can’t wait to read how it all unfolds. The emotive nature of your storytelling brings me dead center to the action and feelings. Much appreciated and intrigued. Your Loyal Fan.

Maybe Bette just needs a little thump to the forehead… not a slap down, just a thump. I’m hoping Bette doesn’t feel the need for an encore and bring up the whole proposal debacle.
