    Shoot ‘Em Up: Chapter Eight

“So what is this new ordeal that’s going on?” Bette took a drink from her glass.

“We’re trying to find these two girls that went missing the night that Stephen Doherty got gun down.” Helena shoved her hands in her pockets.

    “Who are these two women?”

“Alice Pieszecki and Carmen de la Pica Morales,” Helena looked at Jenny as Jenny glared at her.

“Alice Pieszecki? That name is sound awfully familiar.” Tina pondered.

Bette clutched her hand into a fist til her knuckles turned white. “Because she was the bitch that try to ruin me—try to ruin us.”

Tina spoke up again. “I knew her name sounded familiar, and her friend Carla.”

    “Carmen,” Helena spoke up.

“I don’t give a fuck what her name is, she was taking pictures of our daughter and followed her around.”

“I had a hit put out on them.” Bette said. “But I guess Stephen didn’t finish the job because he got taken out.” She sighed. “Peabody, I need you to find where these two ladies are at. I’ll make sure that Shane will finish this job.” Helena nodded.

Shane walked into the kitchen to find Carmen in the refrigerator. She sighed heavily as she shoved her hands in her pockets. Carmen stood up and closed the refrigerator door. She turned around and jumped.

“Oh my God, you scared me.”

“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.”  Carmen began to walk away, but Shane stopped her. “I wanted to talk to you.”

“What do we need to talk about?”

“About the other night on what I said to you. I-I don’t want you to go.” Shane exhaled. “I just want to protect you. I don’t want you to get hurt out there.”

“Why? You don’t even know me.” Shane took a step closer to her.

“I know you more than you think I do.” Carmen took a step back and bumped into the refrigerator. “Do you still want to leave?”

“I-I—,” she stuttered, and Shane pressed her hand against her chest.

“Your heart is pounding. Are you nervous?”

“N-no, I’m not nervous.” Shane leaned a little closer, and Carmen went the rest of the way. She kissed Shane passionately, and she pulled away. “I-I’m sorry.” She pushed away from Shane and walked towards the bedroom. Shane pressed her fist against the door of her refrigerator.
