Shane and Molly: A Love Story – Chapter 24

“Yeah, what’s up?” she replied quickly. Obviously Molly had interrupted something.

Embarrassed, Molly replied, “Sorry to uh—-interrupt—but, I need to talk to Alice.”

    “Really? Right now?”

“Yeah, it’s really kind of an emergency.”

After some silence and the sound of rustling, Alice answered. “This better be good Molly.”

Molly told Alice the details of her conversation with Shane and shared with her her fears that Shane was about to do something stupid. Alice agreed that Shane was probably not in the best frame of mind at the moment but assured Molly that Shane would never do that to her. She said that she would go out looking for Shane just in case.

Shane drove aimlessly around the streets of West Hollywood, trying to sort through the emotions she was feeling at the moment. She was hurt and angry that Molly had not come right out and told her what had happened, but at the same time she understood why she didn’t. She also knew Molly well enough to know that she wasn’t lying. Nothing did happen between them. But she was still hurt and angry.

Though not entirely sure how she ended up there, Shane had somehow made it to the parking lot of SheBar. She got out of her car and made her way inside, through the throngs of women grinding on the dance floor. She approached the bar and flagged over the bartender. “Tequila, double” was all that she said. The bartender nodded and poured her the shot. Shane downed it quickly and ordered another right away, which she drank just as quickly. Turning around, she leaned up against the bar and watched the women on the dance floor. Scanning the room, she made eye contact with the same petite brunette who months before, when Shane had found herself in a similar position, propositioned her. She smiled briefly at her before she turned around to order another drink. As she waited for the bartender to pour her shot, she felt a hand against the small of her back. Still leaning against the bar, she turned her head to the side to see who it was, and to no surprise to Shane, it was the woman she had just locked eyes with.
