    Shades of Paradise–Gathering Clouds

Tina spent the rest of the morning and the early part of the afternoon as she had planned. She intended to follow through on the plans that she had made with Kit for the children. Nevertheless her conversation with Bette played over and over in her head ripping open a wound that Tina had hoped would never be opened again. Over the last several months she had watched Bette become more and more involved in the business of the art gallery–drawn by some invisible force, with each passing day glimpses of the old Bette broke the surface. Until today though Tina had found the return of the strong alpha Bette attractive, extremely sexy at times. Today’s conversation was different–it had sent a ribbon of apprehension through her to hear Bette’s hard, commanding tone–her willingness to set aside their plans for work. There was no way that Tina would live through being relegated to second place again–not now–not ever. It had been bad enough when it had only been them but now there was Angelica and Austin to think of.

As she tided up the house and got the children ready for their visit with Auntie Kit Tina began to formulate a plan. A plan to derail the path she feared Bette may be heading down. Tina’s thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of the doorbell. Walking toward the door Tina glanced at her watch realizing that it was almost 2 pm. That’s probably Kit but why would she ring the bell? Kit had long since abandoned the formality of ringing the bell when she arrived; preferring to make a grand entrance for her niece and nephew who adored her. It was a habit that Bette still cringed about but Tina had found endearing. Opening the door Tina was surprised to see a delivery driver weighed down by a large box and Kit just entering the gate behind him.

"Delivery for Bette Porter. Where do you want me to put it?" the driver asked straining under the weight of the package. Taken aback Tina pointed to first place she could think of–the corner of the entry way.

"There’s fine. I’m not Bette Porter but I can sign for her"

    "Your name m’am?"

    "Tina Kennard-Porter. I’m her wife."

    1. Outside of the weirdness of not allowing Tina to sign for the packages, I would say talking to Bette about these old habits are fine and dandy…where is Dandy by the way?? But What i’m concerned about is how people were honestly expecting Bette NOT to put stress on herself with a musem and her name attached to it…I find that to be ridiculous. I mean I don’t even have a reputation that Bette does in her business but i know regardless of how much i tell myself to chill if i know it has my name on the reports I’m making sure everything is done right. Just the way it is…

    2. Bette needs to deal with this a little differently,Knowing Bette she has capable people working for her. Let them do the work and her put the final touches to it and go home to your family or you want have a family to go home to. thanks

    3. I hope that Bette is not going to screw up again. Also Tina is going to have to give some. But when there are kids involved, it makes it harder on the parent doing most of the raising. Both Bette and Tina have demanding jobs so both need to give to help out with the family.

    4. I hope that Bette isn’t falling into her bad habits. I realize it would be stressful to have your own business but you need to find a way to communicate with your partner. I hope that Tina and Bette get things settled before too much drama occurs.
