With the sun going down Angelica was getting cold. Her fingers were numb to the point where she was thinking of letting go with one hand so she could shake it and get some feeling back into her fingers. She didn’t know how long she would be able to hold on.
All she wanted was to go home.
“Al” Tina yells.
“Al” Tina says trying to interrupt Alice’s rant which is getting louder with each question.
“Where in the hell is NAVY? Jesus where’s the cavalry when you need them? Why are you guys still here?” Alice fires off as fast as the questions hit her mind.
“Al will you just listen.” Trying to get through Alice’s juggernaut of questions pushed Tina’s fear to the back as anger takes over centering her. Tina finally breaking through, “We’re going to pack right now and then leave for Charlotte immediately. We’re going to get her. We’ll talk to you when we know more.” Tina says before hanging up. She has had enough of Alice.
“Charlotte …. Charlotte. Why would they go to Charlotte … wait … wait I know someone in Charlotte.” Alice says not even realizing that Tina has hung up. With her mind running in full speed, Alice finally remembers. When it all comes into focus for her she too turns and runs.
Chapter 21
Hope is some extraordinary spiritual grace that God gives us to control our fears, not to oust them. ~Vincent McNabb
Alice raced her car as fast as it would go, leaning into the turn in the road while keeping her foot on the gas pedal plastered to the floorboard. She was trying to get to Bette and Tina’s house to catch them before they left for Charlotte. Taking a quick look to her right she eyed her cell phone sitting on the seat. She had tossed it there before she fired up her car and now she stretched to get it. Reaching across the passenger seat she had the thought to grab her cell but it was just out of reach. With Alice’s focus on the cell the car swerved a little to the right causing Alice to refocus on the road and abandon her attempt. She was just going to have to get there before Bette and Tina left.

Absolutely Riveting
What captivating drama! I’ve been holding my breathe waiting for this chapter. I trust that sound is someone coming to the rescue. Write soon and take care of yourself.
I love the drama, natural disaster made, Alice made, Jwet written, it’s all good.
Please tell me that the sound coming from the horizon is help. Cos that girl has been stranded long enough.
Aw jeez… I was just kidding about them going to Charlotte. I couldn’t coordinate my own rescue out of a paper bag.
Bette will probably let it go for now until she has her angel back. Alice better beware her wrath when she gets back home.Pps and don’t take so long this time.
Bette may be irked at being left out of the planning, but she’d be an awful ingrate to be pissed at Alice getting them where they need to go in the quickest way. They don’t have to say shit to the reporter if they don’t want to. And I must say, Alice’s arms must be much shorter than I thought to not be able to reach across the narrow confines of a Mini!
this is intense…i don’t even know what to say, i just want angie be safe in her moms arms
Hey it’s great to see a new chapter!I know Anjelica can hang in there, don’t know it I’m so sure about Bette. She’s gonna have somebody’s head in that airport – probably Alice’s. :} Nice job, as always.
Oh damn this is bad and please keep Angie safe!
Hey Jwet! Glad to see you are back and in one piece. I had a teambuilding activity suspended above the trees for the day and it was exhausting. I can remember being up there, suspended, and commenting how I thought we would all bond over a pizza and beer just as well and could work on our conflict management skills when the last piece of pizza and mug of beer were present and we all wanted it! LOL! Anyway, this story is amazing. You’ve really tugged at my “mom” heart strings thinking about what I would do and how I would feel if this were my daughter. I’m hoping the sound from the horizon is someone saving Angelica, Dan seems to be a hero but so does Angie for being so young and holding it together and not giving up. Please post soon, I can’t wait to see what happens! Thanks!
Great story. Great drama :)! thanks
Oh no!!!! what sound coming from the horizon???? and Alice does know that she risks death at Bette’s hands???? Whoa u r quite the traveller…done the team building on the river with rapids thing, it was a great experience and took 5 days!!!! never again…Lmao…but I would recommend it…to other younger, fitter types….good for adolescents I think…I’d like to have the money to do it for our kids here…yeah I’m prolific while it’s holidays but haven’t finished reading your email posts yet…lazy huh??? But I commit to doing that b4 next Monday…Take care…and pps
I’m not sure how the reporter escort is going to go over, but maybe Bette and Tina won’t care because they’ll get to there baby that much faster. I’m sad to see this story ending, I have really enjoyed it. I hope you have another story brewing for us. Thanks for the post.
Okay, it better not be water! OMG, you’re killing me with Angelica’s interior monologue… i can’t even put it into words! I just want to grab a boat and go get her myself. plz don’t make it more water…she is at the breaking point as it is…plz be a rescue boat…plz. also, plz post soon.
This sounds coming from the horizon…, I know its water, but it has to be Alice…, in some kind boat, just waving at Angelica and shouting in her merry way, “I’m coming to get you…”
would loved to have heard from you. i will call. its been an absolute zoo for me here. way to much stress and sadness. just coming a bit out of my depression. feeling a bit more social. loved it and the sound had better be what i think its gonna be. thanks.
Right back at you my friend…right back at you! Like I told you, my stomach was in my throat the whole time I was reading this! Angie is proof of the power of visualizing, and, Alice is the proof that the power of a good heart out weighs the safe way out. It’s always a good day when JWET posts…ALWAYS!!! Thanks!
I hope it a rescue helicopter and not more bad needs. Ok, Alice is one daring woman to mess with mom’s under stress. I hope Tina and Shane can keep her calm and she hasn’t ripped someone’s head off before Allice gets there to explain. Still holding my breathe.
Glad to see a update from you Jwet! Oh Gosh, I dont think I want to be Alice right now. :-) PPS
Help needs to get to Angelica quickly. She will not be able to survive the night, wet and cold. Will Alice’s plan back fire or will it get them that much closer to their daughter? I can’t wait to find out. This is so interesting. I know that the Coast Guard can do much to save people. They are the pros at this.
Hey JWeet, As always it is a great pleasure and treat to read another fine chapter from a classy author like yourself. I have recently moved from an appartment to a house and yet to have broadband connected so having been missing everyone and the fabulous fan fictions. Back to work so able to sneak online and do some serious catching up. Many thanks for this jaw dropping tale. The image of Angelica holding on for dear life as Bette and Tina spring into action mum mode is heart stopping and inspirational. I was so happy to see that Bette and Tina are now working together as a team and supporting each other in their moments of self doubt and worry. Just let Angelica be safely reunited with her distraught parents. Can ‘t wait to see how this all plays out. I do think that Alice may be unable to sit down as Bette is sure to rip her a new one when she hears the conditions of this mercy flight. JWet,you rock. Please continue soon. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
The sound of a chopper mayhaps?
So exciting! I hope that sound coming from over the horizon is a helicopter or boat not another wall of water. Alice is an interfering pain in the ass. I hope the interview isn’t too intrusive b/c Bette will kill her. Besides, Bette likes to be the hero, the “manly” one so it’s best not to gum up her plans. PPS.
Great adventure and Alice is quite the force of craziness in it all. I don’t know what Angelica is hearing…I just hope it’s sounds of a good thing! Thanks for your shoutout…way too generous. Look forward to more Jwet writing, whether in this tale or another. Happy travels.
Well, if Alice was the reporter, then no problem, right? Ok, maybe not. You always manage to make me go on a limb and root for Alice! I’m always happier when I see a post by you – great story!
