    Reprisal Reprised- Chapter 22

Inhaling deeply, she took in the fragrance of the roses that had been planted by the owners of the house, but it did not begin to compare to all of the jasmine, wisteria and honeysuckle that she had grown in her own yard.  She had brought a bit of her Southern roots to California and she missed that.  She knew that she could try and plant those things here, but it wouldn’t feel right as this was not her home.  Her home was of a mile from here with Bette, a place that she hoped to return to some day.

The sound of the phone ringing jarred her from her thoughts.

Looking down at the phone in her hand, she couldn’t help but smile as she saw Bette’s name pop up on the caller ID.

“Hi there” she said as she answered the phone, the smile remaining firmly placed on her face.

“Hey, how are you doing?” she heard Bette say.

“Good and you?  You sound tired.”

“A little I’d imagine” said Bette.  She had to chuckle at Tina’s comment as it never failed to amaze her how well Tina still knew her, even after all that they had been through.

“What’s so funny?” asked Tina, hearing the laughter in Bette’s voice.

“I don’t know” smiled Bette.  “Just funny sometimes thinking about how much things have changed and yet at times, how much they’re the same.”

“Yeah?” asked Tina, knowing exactly what it was that Bette meant.

“Yeah” she said into the phone as she once again, rested her head against the back of the chaise.

“So” said Tina.  “Long day?” she asked as she shifted in her chair to get more comfortable.

“Just busy” answered Bette.  “I’m in the process of putting together this project and it’s taking a little more of my time than I had expected.”

    “Care to elaborate?” asked Tina.

“Not at this time” said Bette.  “It’s still really early and I need to get a little further into it before I start discussing it.”

    “Sounds a bit cryptic.”

“Don’t mean for it to” smiled Bette.  “Just want to get all my ducks in a row before I start talking about it.”

    6. Thanks for posting this excellent chapter despite the exciting chapter about to unfold in your life. As for the story, Tina is Bette’s kryptonite. Although Tina’s right to say that she knows they won’t get back together immediately, and I intially wanted Bette to really make Tina beg for forgiveness, I’m giving up the ghost. Sunday’s episode took me to new depths. I hope you’ll get to post soon, Skipton. If not, I’ll just reread everything you previously wrote.

    7. Wow! First and foremost, congratulations and my best wishes to you and your partner. Love how your story is progressing. They’ll find their way to one another…when two souls are destined to be one nothing can stand in their way. Again, best wishes during this beautiful time in your lives…

Congrats on the soon to be new arrival. just enjoy life, thats what it is all about. as for S3 Its just a TV Show, just like fan fiction. For our amusement or enjoyment. People gotta remember that more. Blessings to you and your other half.

    9. Congrats on your soon to be package…and you think you don’t have time now to write…we’ll never see you afterwards…thankyou for this chapter and for the ray of hope you leave us with…it means a lot tks

    10. Beautiful post, Skipton. I had missed your baby news if you had posted it in the past. That is so wonderful. Congratulations. I always thought it was so corny when people talked about what a miracle it was, that little screaming infant. But it is a beautiful miracle. Don’t forget your camera like I did! The adventure is about the begin!

    11. Congrats, Skip! Our daughter just turned 10 months old, and it’s been an amazing journey so far. Your life is going to change so much–so much so, that if we don’t see a post from you until next year, I won’t be surprised!

    12. Skip, that was such a great post, so well written, just beautiful. Yours is truely a story that I always look for and I get all excited when I see a new one! I loved the whole backyard thing, and Tina’s complete honesty. I think maybe if the two of them start to really put things on the table, they will soon come around. Congrats on the baby and I hope you still find some time to finish this tale that you have begun.

    13. Thanks…Always love your writing. You’re one of a select few who gets me reading fan fic on a weekday. Thanks for the update on the baby too!

    14. Hey so the time has finally come. Enjoy the quiet for a moment for soon you won’t remember what it sounds like. Thank you for taking time out when I know you are so busy to put this together. Your writing is as always so stellar. I feel the whimsical tone in Bette and Tina with her hope. Thanks

    15. “One day at a time, Bette, one day at a time”! There seems to be hope yet. Does leaving the door “just cracked so as not to completely close off the yard that she loved so much” signify her feelings for Tina? She still loves Tina and yet she’s scared but still leaving a crack so as not to completely close off her heart? Thanks so much for this hopeful update. Congratulations on the baby.

    16. Skipton, After everything these gals have been through it is great to see the doorway to communication opening up between them again. The simple pleasure of being comfortable with someone is a major turn on and I hope that Bette will realize this as she starts to spend time with and share her life with Tina again. It is brilliant to see the honesty that now exists in their relationship as Tina plainly states her case and the matter of her emotions and to where she would like this reconnection ending. Thank you for creating this torch to lead me away from the travesty of BnT in Season 3 and to a much more satisfying and appealing place. Will be waiting for your next post as always, Your Loyal Fan. PS – on personal note hope all goes well with the delivery and a new life is in your loving arms soon.

    17. I´ve been looking for and missing your update and behold the sun came out in the midst of a snowstorm. Thanks for a truly lovely story with such care for the written word. You truly are an amazing writer. Best wishes to you and your significant other – the two of you are in for the best time ever, and well at least 15 years of sleep depravation. But it is so worth it.

    18. Great update. Its so nice to read something that at least gives us hope. Loved how you ended it with Bette telling Tina about the yard, since thats where the conversation began. Looking forward to more, even though we may need to wait. That couple of hours you found, enjoy why you can, but its all worth it. congrats and good luck.

    19. Bette better buckle up because Tina’s at the wheel. I just hope she stays on her side of the road. She seems pretty determined and we don’t want a case of road rage. Love how you’re developing this. Your writing continues to amaze me. Wonderful as always, Skip.

    20. GT said it best…Tina is at the wheel…I look forward to going along for the ride with them. Now, about that new edition…say it with me….BABYSITTER!!! And if your not quite ready to do the babysitter thing, do like B&T, let your partner hold the baby long enough for you to belt out a couple of chapters!!! -_-

    21. Hey..wonderful..you have such a knack for findin authentic voices with your characters. I felt like I was in the bushes close by hearing every word.Sighing Ahhh.. at the end.
