Reprisal Reprised- Chapter 19
Looking down at the caller ID on her ringing cell phone, Tina’s heart started beating a bit faster as she saw that the call was coming from Bette’s gallery.
“Bette?” she said after quickly answering the phone.
“Tina, hi. No, I’m sorry, it’s Shelly” she said apologetically.
“Oh, hey” said Tina, trying to hide the disappointment in her voice that it wasn’t Bette that was calling.
“I hope I’m not disturbing you?”
“No, not at all. I was hoping to hear something as to Bette’s whereabouts…”
“Just not from me, huh?” teased Shelly.
“Well, straight from the horse’s mouth would be preferable, but you know what they say about beggars” she smiled.
“That I do” she smiled in return. As hard as it seemed to believe, especially considering the history between Bette and this woman, Shelly was finding herself more and more drawn to Tina, something about her personality just very endearing and genuine.
“Well, I thought that I should let you know that I just got off the phone with said horse” said Shelly, “and she seems to be doing okay.”
“Okay?” questioned Tina, hearing something in Shelly’s voice.
“Yeah, tired, but okay would be my guess.”
“Where is she, Shelly?” Tina asked.
“I’m sorry, Tina, but she asked me not to tell anyone where she was. She said that she needed a couple of days to herself and that after that, she would give you a call.”
Tina sat down on her sofa and rubbed her temples that had begun to throb.
“Do you know where she is?” Tina softly asked, knowing that she did but just wanting confirmation.
“Yeah, I do” she replied.
Tina knew that she could not push Shelly for additional information. It would be neither fair to her or to Bette and her wishes.
“Ok” said Tina. “I understand that you can’t tell me where she is, but Shelly, would you tell me where she was if you thought that she wasn’t okay? If you thought that she shouldn’t be alone?”
Taking a deep breath, Shelly thought about Tina’s question before answering.
“Tina” she finally responded. “To be very honest with you, I really have no idea as to what happened between you and Bette. What I do know though, is that when I came to work for her, she was a mess, an absolute walking disaster.”

I think you should post another chapter in a few more hrs. lol.Like this story and impatient to read next chapters.Nice to see that Bette is not the grovelling one
Cant wait for your next chapter.
Cant wait for your next chapter.
Cant wait for your next chapter.
This is good, really good.
Ooooooooooooh, I am anxious to hear (um…read?) this upcoming conversation!!
skip, gonna break our hearts arent ya? Or are you gonna make this fan fiction site more exciting with Bette & Tina back where they belong than what Season3 is going to give us. I Wonder?
Cat Tee vs Canary Be, hoho. What will Bette do in the next few hours? I hope it’s dumping Lee… We really didn’t see her around a lot, rite? haha
Great chapter now you have nervous and apprehensive but bring it soon
I agree with rsa…Can’t wait for your next chapter.
I love your writing and your stories. They are so realistic and natural. Great qualities for a storyteller to have.
TOTALLY DIG this fic. It is always a pleasure to see a post. POST SOON!!!!
Great chapter. Anxiously waiting for the next one.
It is always a treat to read your stories…every single chapter, treat, treat, treat! Thanks Skip
skip, as always, thank you. I’m like a gazillion miles away (in the far east), S3 Ep1 is being aired as I write this. I definitely prefer your story to what is supposedly being written by IC for bette and Tina this season. Please post like…..now would be really great! Okay, as soon as you can. We’re dying for the conversation.
I don’t have Showtime, so I have to rely on Fan Fiction to get me through. Please allow Bette and Tina to reconnect. It can be slow, just let Bette tell Tina that she wants to work things out.
this is amazing, i just love it…can you post in a few hours?
it’s killing to wait for the next
skip, Great chapter. Please let Bette and Tina get back together soon and make it slow and both of them taking there time with each other. I think Bette will dump Lee. PLEASE POST SOON!!!
I just love your story. I wish the actual show could be half as good, that would be heaven. Please write more soon!
Evidently you have a great many people on pins and needles. I am one.
I feel were in for a let down, but I am hoping so very much that I am wrong. Please let them get back togther. Maybe Bette is jus setting up something to surprise Tina, I can dream can’t I.
I’m waiting for the other shoes to fall, don’t believe it will be in Tina favor. You sort of get tired of being kick when you are down. you get up on your knees and wham, you get kicked again thanks
Always a treat to see a chapter from you. You did a wonderful job of conveying that uneasy feeling of not knowing what’s going on. First with Tina’s conversation with Shelly and then when Bette returned. We take any bit of information, no matter how tiny and cling to it like a life preserver desperate that it will be what helps us to stay afloat in uncertain waters. It was best that Tina didn’t remember about Shutters, what ever decision that Bette comes to it needs to be by her own will. Not because she feels guilty or because Tina forces her hand, that way if she does decide to return to Tina there will be no doubt that it was an act of free will. Hmmm, do one of the things that Bette needs to take care of before she and Tina talk to let Lee down easy? Can’t wait for your next installment.
Skip….read the chapter early this a.m., but did not have time to comment then. Wanted to say great chapter. Bette has a lot of stuff to process and needed space. As much as I like Alice, she just gets on my nerves sometimes….whether she belongs to IC or you. Pls carry on with your literary skills.
A few more hours feels like a lifetime – that’s what it is! Excellent story. Hope Bette can see the love for Tina in her heart like the speck of light at the end of the tunnel, and follow it home.
What Gumby said!! -_-
Skipton,Beautiful as always.I love the way that you carefully crafted this tender tale.Bette’ aloofness and Tina nervousness shout out from the page. I can’t wait to read what Bette has to sort out; Lee perhaps. You have to be true to yourself as Tina has finally realized now just to get Bette to the same place.I know that it will be messy. I now that it will be painful. I now that there will be tears; both of joy and of sorrow. And I know how well written it will be.Please continue soon as I will be on tender hooks until then. Many thanks,Your Loyal Fan.
Bette is playing it close to the vest. You are so good at this stuff. I started out hating this Tina for the pain she caused Bette and me, lol. But now, I am cheering her on and hoping she and I get what we want…the two of them back together.
god a few hrs!! that would kill me! haha
I really love your story, your writing and your spot-on dialogue. Please post another excellent chapter very soon! Thanks so very much for writing and sharing.
hummm i hope Bette will talk to Lee and tell her she will try again with Tina..cant wait for more thanks :o)
argh..i hate waiting. few more hours..and the anticipation could kill!
Great chapter. Bette’s being evasive. Let’s hope they talk. Please post soon.
Skip…I know what you’re doing! You want Bette to get her personal life cleaned up so that she be free to go back to Tina right? Awesome post again Skip!!
This is good and can’t wait to see what’s next, thanks!
Be still my beating heart! Bette is back and I’m not feeling a connection!!Skip please be careful my life is in your hands!:) Shelly called Tina? hmmmm..
”And maybe Skip’s unpredicatbleness ain’t such a bad thing.” (as Alice would say). As much as I wonder where you’re taking this, I’m trying to remain settled because we’re in good hands, right? I’m also trying to remind myself that I like Tina even though she’s being quite pushy at the moment. I understand she’s anxious, but please give Bette some time before bugging the hell out of her. I’m pretty riled up right now, so I guess I’ll practice my breathing in attempt to calm down. Loved it…
Ah the torturous, delightful suspense of waiting to see what Bette will say and do. She seems very cool and in control. Tina, on the other hand, is wearing her desperation like a billboard, stopping just short of clingy. I think Alice is right, Tina better keep her expectations in check.Nicely done chapter, Skipton. Love this story.
