Chapter 4

Tina woke at the sound of clothes rustling.  “Bette?”

Tina instinctively knows its Bette in the room.  She feels her presence.  The room was dark, not giving Tina a clue as to whether Bette was just getting home or already getting ready for the new day.  Tina slept on her stomach with her head buried in the crook of her left elbow.  From this position she needs to lift her head to look and find Bette.  She locates her near their dresser with her hands near her left ear.  Tina needs to squint to tell if she’s putting them on or taking them off.

“Damn they are going on.”  At the thought Tina drops her head down onto her pillow.

“Oh hey ….Sorry I was trying to be quiet.  Go back to sleep it’s early.” Bette whispers as she continues getting dressed.

Tina begins to grasp that its morning and Bette is leaving.  Turning to the clock along her side of the bed Tina looks to see the time  4:30. 

“Oh God Bette” Tina mumbles sinking back into the warmth the bed.

Bette continues to move around the room until she’s finished getting dressed and is ready to leave.  Moving up to the bed she looks down at Tina.  She hasn’t been much of a partner to her lately.  Bette makes a mental note to think of something to make it up to her when things calm down.  It’s just been one crazy moment to the next lately.  Bette knew with just a little more push she would be able to have the control and power to make decisions on her own without having to beg the powers that be for permission.  Gaining that power will calm a lot of her issues down and give her the time to devote to Tina.  

Putting her hand on Tina’s shoulder, Bette just pats it gently.  Turning away Bette is almost to the door when Tina rises up from the bed again.  “Hey Bette wait.” 

Bette turns to see Tina getting out of bed.  “Tina it’s early don’t get up.”

“But I want to talk with you.  Are you leaving this minute?”

“Pretty much I have some unfinished business before the board meeting at nine this morning.  We can talk when I get home tonight.”
