Put it up to your ear…what do you hear…Chapter 5

    Previously:

“Come on, let’s go see what’s in store for us at this party.”

Letting out a big sigh, Bette joined her friend. “Ok.”

Put it up to your ear…What do you hear…Chapter 5

Tina gulped down the last of her wine, as she waited for Dave to finish taking care of the check. She was still confused…knowing in her heart that she had heard the low giggle from her seashell, but her mind was telling her that maybe she had just imagined it. After all, it sounded like her seashell, but it sounded different too. But, it had happened too fast for Tina to be able to tell what that difference was.

She smiled to herself, thinking about her beautiful seashell. It still sat in the box that her father had made for it all those years ago. Never touched by anyone except Tina, who still believed in its luck. In fact, ever since she had held the shell, and asked for a little sister, and then was blessed with her adorable Lacy, she had continued to believe that it was because of her lucky seashell, put on the beach that day just for her to find. I mean, why else would there have been an initial T worn into the lip?

Over the years, it had continued to bring Tina luck. She remembered holding it tight, and saying how much she wanted to play shortstop on her sixth grade softball team. And, then there was the time in high school…she had been a sophomore, and desperately wanted to ask a junior by the name of Tom Munson to the Tolo dance, but was afraid he might say no…which, of course he didn’t. Or, how could she forget cradling the shell two years ago, as she talked with her roommate about the dreamy football player, that just about bowled her over, as he was trying to get to class…only to be mesmerized by Tina’s smile, as she most graciously accepted his apology, and asked her out to dinner on the spot?

Throughout the years, Tina and her siblings had led a happy childhood. And, even though Tina was smart enough to know that happy childhood was because of her parents, and their love for each other, as well as their love for their children…she liked to believe that some of the other things that went her way in life…like the softball team, or that wonderful Tolo dance, and of course, Dave…all had to do with the luck she received from her beautiful seashell. A seashell, that still, even after all these years, would emit a sound every once in a while…always when Tina was alone at night…that sounded just like a little girl’s giggle.

    1. oh, i want them to meet and talk so bad but i’m gald she didn’t go into the room with some slut wendy in there…maybe in the morning, please make them get together soon…love this story, thank you

    2. I want them to meet too and I agree that in the middle of banging college party skank wendy is not the best of conditions for this meeting so make it happen in a better solution

    3. just started reading your story. it’s very interesting. bette and tina really should meet and talk. hopefully tina isn’t just one of those straight women bette sleeps with.

    4. oh seahurst, such delicious writing, will you do all of us the pleasured favor of continuing with this fabulous and sultry story asap. I find I hold my breath through all of your writing, I imagine you are quite the captivator in the non-fiction world as well… truly, thank you.

    5. Ah, foreshadowing…one of my favourite literary devices. Tina played softball in grade six hey? Her fate was sealed at the tender age of 11! Look forward to their actual meeting rather than simply spying each other across a crowded room. Thanks!

    6. This is SO the perfect set-up for the seashell escapade! Though, I do admit – it’s taking a bit longer than I thought it would for Tina to find the giggle goddess. But, hey, it’s your story. And, Tolo dance is? Just curious. This story is absolutely wonderful. Thank you!

    7. I wanted them to meet, but not with a human blanket covering her, In ever life time you know when the right person is that special one even if they have a magic giggle thanks for posting.

    8. Wooohoooo!! Come on girls! I cannot wait for them to come face to face and for Tina to figure out that it’s Bette’s giggle that she hears in her shell. (happy sigh)I’m inlove with this story! Great writing. Love the way it’s all unfolding. I can even tolerate the teasing! =) Please post soon. i am SO addicted to this B&T beginning!!!

    9. Oh Seahurst you write so wonderful and I can’t help being drawn into the world you’re creating. You are definitely one off my favourite authors…please post soon :o))

    10. Definately a teaser, Sea!!! But, wouldn’t have it any other way. Please post again, very soon. Didn’t see that Wendy thing coming, but I’m holding onto my frustration, believing you’ll get them together, in the not to distant future. Also not diggin’ ol’ hunky Dave, all over Tina, but again, back to the faith that I have in you, to get these two, so different woman, together. Just like, “If It’s Meant To Be…(my favorite)” this is very different, and oh so very good….. So, was this incident, in this chapter, or in one of the previous chapters? Oh, and I’m signing up for my subscription. Figured this is my ‘outlet’, my fantasy escape, it will be money well spent. I mean, other then having to wait impatiently for each author’s post (which feels like months, at times….(smile)) this can’t get any more convinient. I mean, it’s right at our fingertips. Thanks for sharing your stories with us. More, please!!!

    11. Oh you have a wicked imagination. And it’s such fun to read. Bette’s giggle is like a homing device — Tina just has to turn on her tracking device and voila! Thanks for the fun.

    12. Seahurst,That was another excruciatingly and agonizingly close but no cigar moment. Both Bette and Tina realize that something is going on but can’t yet put their fingers on the reason.I loved the way you reintroduced the shell and its significance. Maybe this will be the conduit that unites these soul mates. The air is ripe with anticipation and desire although there is doubt and hesitation on both sides.Lives will be changed but for the better. As Bette accepts soppy seconds and Tina involves herself with Dave there is still a little niggle that everything is not quite perfect. Like removing wallpaper, pick at a little piece and then the whole strip comes away and these gals will realize what potential there is between them.As always, please post soon as I will be desperately waiting.Your Loyal Fan.

    13. Just caught up. *humming happily* Sea, this is another terrific tale you’ve got on your hands. Okay, why is Bette putting the moves on Wendy the Blanket? She doesn’t know if she is hypo-allergenic or not. *shaking head & rolling eyes* On another note, love the giggle. Such a talent you have.

    14. Sea, you posted!! YAY!!! Sorry for being MIA but my computer decided to break down on me. It’s absolutely awesome to see you posting again though! You have no idea how excited that makes me!! Have fun on all your trips!I love how B&T can sense the importance of meeting each other. They simply know that they will change each other’s lives forever. That’s amazing. Makes me wonder if something like this could happen in real life. Thanks!

    15. OMG…Sea you are killing me here. You are just dang good, I would quit my job and read your stories all day long every day. You are awesome….take care of yourself in England. Love ya always.

    16. We have no doubt that Bette and Tina will meet and Tina will find out who that same yet different giggle belongs to. Just looking forward to see how you get us there. More teasing?! Thanks for another great chapter that keeps us hanging.

    17. do you see the pattern with albeez and I? We really don’t like any men in the stories. Dave must go..or albeez and I will have to drink a few. thanks for the post
