chapter 7
The Planet
Bette relaxed with her friends at their favorite table at the Planet and her face hurt from so much smiling. Alice was in rare form, Shane was a happy Shane, Lara was chatting and even Jenny didn’t seem so crazy.
They were joined by Alice’s veterinarian girlfriend, Kelly. She was fascinated with the gang and was particularly interested in being around Bette Porter, a woman she had heard so much about.
“Shane’s becoming famous for giving Mohawks,” Alice informed Bette who smiled skeptically. “Then the people are having their hair dyed so the Mohawk is a rainbow color. Shane charges them a fortune.”
“Then Shane should buy this round,” Bette smiled and Shane generously produced the money and deposited it on the table.
“How are your fish doing, Al?” Lara asked.
They all laughed, knowing at least some of the story of how Alice and Kelly met because Al had sick fish.
“Great. It helps that my girlfriend is a vet.”
“I didn’t know that vets treated fish,” Bette commented with eyes twinkling.
“I don’t, but it’s very hard to say ‘no’ to Alice,” explained Kelly.
They all grinned and waited expectantly to hear the whole story.
“Dr. Barnes,” her receptionist had said. “There’s this crazy woman in the waiting area with a small bowl of fish.”
“Fish?”
“They’re sort of lethargic. And she thinks you should treat them.”
“I don’t treat fish. I eat them.”
“Well, I told her that. Not about the eating, but that you didn’t treat fish.”
“And.”
“She made some comment about your not caring for animals. ‘What kind of vet is she?’ The crazy woman said.”
The receptionist explained that apparently Alice had attracted a certain amount of attention in the waiting area.
“Fancy that,” chuckled Bette, clearly delighted with the story.
“Anyway, after appealing to her sense of vet duty,” Alice explained, “she agreed to see me. And the rest is history.”
“How’re the fish?” Bette asked.
“Great,” Al confirmed. “Kelly’s receptionist knows about fish, so she told me what to do and I just call her if I have a question.”
“She calls her daily,” Kelly raised her eyebrows. “My receptionist wants a raise.”
All noticed that Bette was more like the old Bette than they had seen in a long time. Her appetite was good. She laughed, joked and just generally had a good time. They were all so happy because their friend had been “gone” so long.

You make everything sound so easy,yet Bette know that from one coast to the other can seem like a million miles. Bette enjoyed her self that is really all that matters at this point. Hmmm, if it has been the best month of Bette’s life (and it sure sounds like it was) Tina may be able to locate her and still not find what she seeks. That begs the question of what Tina wants and if dear Tina herself can identify it. But that would be another chapter.

Bette will NEVER forget about Angelica…all the pussy in the world will not make that happen. I am glad Alpha Bette is back (thank you Barbara) I really hope Alpha Bette is back on the show this season also. Even if B&T don’t get back together this season on the show…let us please have Alpha Bette back. I think all the Tibetters like this story cause Helena is not the one turning Bette’s head for a change (not that those stories aren’t hot) but someone different was needed. I am sure you will have Tina see what she lost soon so keep posting.

I’ll say it agin: “Tina ,Who?” Most excellent update Pancha, I could feel Bette’s happiness. Hopefully when Tina finds her she’ll still have that shit-eating grin on her face. Then again seeing Tina right now may bring about the opposite of feelings. It would be so cool if Senator Barbara showed up at the planet, wearing the green sweater, making a grand entrance and giving Bette a toe-curling kiss as the patrons look on in wonder(especially Tina). The best month of her life? Really? rather surprising statement,considering she was with Tina for 8 years and a baby too.Sen Barb must’ve been some powerful Stuff. I Hope Tina finds Bette. A happy Bette is back, I liked the last line, “I’ll let her find me” and Tina will find her, hopefully Tina will come to her senses and let Angelica back in Bette’s life. Looking forward to reading more. Thank you.
