    Phoenix Rising (15)

    Chapter 15

Tina was sitting on the couch waiting for everyone to arrive.  Alice had left several hours ago to meet Dana and although she was excited about seeing her friend and meeting Carmen she was not looking forward to the questions…the stares, and most definitely not a night of drinking and partying.  She sighed, rose from the couch and began to walk toward the kitchen when she heard a commotion at the front door.  She barely had a chance to turn around when Dana was enthusiastically but gently wrapping her arms around her.

“Tina, where the hell did you go?  We’ve missed you so much.”

Tina wrapped her arms around her friend and smiled.

“I’ve missed you too, Dana.  It’s great to see you.”

Dana leaned away from Tina and looked at her friend.

“Oh Shit Tina, I’m sorry did I hurt you, I forgot about the accident.  Are you okay?  Shit, I’m so sorry.”

Tina giggled and put her arm around her friend.

“Dana, you didn’t hurt me.  I’m fine, well I’m getting better every day.   So tell me all about what it’s like to be one of the top 25 women’s tennis players in the world.”

Dana shrugged her shoulders and gave Tina a shy smile.

    “Pretty good…but I’m sure it won’t last.”

“C’mon Dana, you’ve been playing amazing.  Toot your horn a bit.”

Dana gave Tina a broad smile.

“Okay, it feels really amazing to be beating some really great players.”

“Now sit and fill me on everything…and I mean everything.”

Alice left Dana and Tina to catch up while she went into the kitchen to finish up the dinner she and Tina had prepared earlier.  They were catching up when Tina quietly asked, “So you and Alice, huh?   What finally made you decide to take the plunge?”

Dana’s cheeks turned pink and she looked away.

    “I don’t know it just um,…”

Tina looked her friend in the eye.

“C’mon Dane, this is Tina, the one you have talked to about 100 times about your feelings for Alice.  What happened?  What made you finally give it a try?”

Dana looked around to make sure no one else was in the room and looked up at her friend and whisper.

    1. Sweet so sweet. Love that Tina and Dana could still talk and have confidences. Can’t wait till tomorrow’s meeting with Bette and Tina. If it’s anything like the rest of this story it should be special

    2. DnA- Sorry to have not commented in a few– you’ve been posting so fast I had to catch up to you!! This story is so sweet, and crafted so beautifully. Keep posting- I love playing catch up!

    3. It’s great that the dinner went well. Hope her time with Bette wil be just as easy and go as well. We know there will probably be tears when they see each other again. Bette is overun with guilt as it is and if she finds out what really happened to Tina, she will be ready to kill the guy for hurting her precious Tina. They still love each other so much that this first meeting might just be a little difficult at first. But meet they must. Here’s hoping for a wonderful, quiet, warm loving day for them. No angst, just love and support. Thanks for posting.
