Tina and the baby were able to come home after a short stint in the hospital. Bette couldn’t wait to be home just the three of them. Once they arrived Bette gave an arm to Tina for support as she exited the car and picked up Angelica from the backseat. Tina looked totally exhausted.

            Bette was walking to the baby’s room to put her down, “Baby, you lie down for awhile. I’m going to see if Angelica likes here knew room. I’ll make us some dinner then I’ll wake you.”

            Tina continued the conversation between the rooms, “Bette, can you actually cook?”

            Bette came into their bedroom helped Tina undress and saying, “I’m full of surprises.” Tina looked doubtful of Bette’s cooking skills.

“Come on T, I can readyou have an enormous collection of cookbooks I think I can come with something. If my attempt in the kitchen is a total bust I promise never to do it again. But have faith my love.”

            “I have always had faith in you.”

            “Have I told how much I love you lately?”

            “Not since we’ve been home.”

            “Well, I’m derelict in my duty then. I love you with everything I am. I love you with every fiber of my being.”

            Tina lay down as Bette kissed her forehead then her lips, “rest Baby. If you need anything just yell.” Bette placed a light hand on Tina’s forehead brushing stay hair from her brow. Tina’s finally surrendered to sleep.

            After ensuring Tina was able to rest comfortably Bette went into the kitchen. She grabbed one of the multitudes of Tina’s cookbooks and muttered to herself, “*****!” She could a bid for a piece of rare French art but she could hardly negotiate her way around her own damn kitchen. “No, I can do this”, talking to herself as she read the ingredients. She muttered out loud to no one, “chickenwe have chickenTina likes chickenI can cook chickenGod! Who am I trying to kidno I can do thissalad? Yes, salads are easy.” Bette doubted her skills in the kitchen but she wasn’t going to give up yet. In her mind she was still proving her love. Cooking dinner was a small contribution but every little thing counted.
