Out of Closet (TiBette time-travel romance), Ch. 58

I came back last night to say a proper goodbye. I had a lot to think about and I want you to know that I understand why you didn’t tell me about Christina. Though, I value honesty and trust above all in a relationship, know that I don’t blame you for doing it because you didn’t want to lose me.

I love you, Tina…you’ll always be the one for me but I need to figure out my feelings on my own. I know I can’t really ask this of you but please, trust me. Everything will be okay.”

Tina felt like screaming but the sound wasn’t coming from her throat. It was coming from her heart filled with pain, frustration, love, sorrow and longing. “Bette,” she cried. “Oh, Bette…” Nothing mattered any longer as the reality hit and Tina sobbed her heart out.

She rested her head on Alice’s shoulder as her friend held her, offering her support and friendship. “I should’ve told her when I had a chance,” Tina managed to say between the sobs.

“Maybe,” Alice tightened her embrace. “But maybe she would just have left sooner.”

Alice held Tina as she cried, trying to comfort her grieving friend as best as she could. When Tina finally fell into an exhausted sleep, Alice called Shane and explained the situation. Shane promised to get the gang together so they could come to Tina’s house and be there when she woke up.

    Meanwhile, in another dimension

    Place: Orange County, CA

    Year: April 20, 1886

    Porter Mansion

Bette opened her eyes and adjusted to the darkness of the closet. She carefully opened the door and peeked outside. She was surprised to see that her bedroom looked exactly the same as the last time she saw it, right before she traveled into the future with Alice.

“My parents probably couldn’t accept that I was gone and hadn’t changed anything,” Bette whispered to herself and stepped outside. Her first objective was to leave the house unnoticed so she could accomplish her mission without being recognized or creating unnecessary commotion because of her return from the dead.

Bette found herself in a delicate situation. As much as she wanted to see her family and let them know that she was alive and safe, she wasn’t sure if it might unbalance something in the universe and create a ripple of effects that would change the future.
