Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 26, Part 2

Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 26, Part 2
Chapter 26, Part 2: Levels of truth…or things are not always what they seem (the story told through the eyes of everybody else involved)

(Previously) Suddenly he heard voices, horses’ neighing and dogs’ barking. He quickly loaded his pistol and waited. He thought that maybe it was just a hunting party lost in the woods but soon recognized the voice of the local sheriff. The thought of being caught only added fuel to his rage as he whispered to himself, “They can’t get me yet. I still need to find the one that escaped. The vengeance is mine.”

The first shot came unexpectedly and deafened his ears. The deranged man fired back and for a while there was a lot of shooting and shouting everywhere. And then, as quickly as it started, it was finished. The sheriff and some of his deputies carefully approached a lifeless body, aiming their guns at his head.

“My, my, what have we got here,” the sheriff said, surprised to find someone he knew so well, lying on the grass and covered in his own blood

Alice remembered the promise she made to both of her friends to find any connection between Christina Kennard and Tina. She was really curious herself about it so she decided to spend her last free Saturday in the California State Library in Sacramento and she flew there early in the morning.

She checked the internet first and found out that they have the 1880 US Federal Census, Great register of voters, city/county directories, county history, and newspapers that would be helpful in her quest to find what really happened to Christina Kennard and if Tina was related to her.

Alice spent half of the day searching through various records but she didn’t find any new information that Tina and she already knew. “Okay, let’s think logically. If Christina survived the shooting she would be listed in 1890 census with her family,” Alice was mumbling quietly while going through the library catalog.

“Excuse me,” she finally asked one of the library attendants, “Can you tell me where I can find 1890 US Federal census?”

    1. Another most excellent chapter BT&F! Eric was a creep in each of his lives and deserved the same outcome both times. Ahhh, but in your author’s notes you say history could change…can’t wait to see what you do with that one. I’m going to miss you for another week, but this story is definitely worth the wait!

    2. OMFG ! This was an excellent chapter B&TF !! Why on earth would you think that we might find it boring ? I loved every single sentence. This was one of the most thrilling things I’ve read in weeks ( especially considering I just caught up on your previous chapter as well ). I love this story and I’m really really looking forward to what’s coming. You are very talented B&TF !

    3. Finally, the two Eric’s are gone. I can’t wait to see Alice messing with Bette about her childhood. Of course, I can’t wait for Bette and Tina to give into their mutual feelings.

    4. A thousand pardons, B&TF… I read as soon as you posted and didn’t get back to comment after I was called away from my reading. I still LOVE this story!! I actually checked your archives for the original (thinking I could rush ahead, lol.) Alas, you were wise and started it all anew! … Moving ahead to the “next post by this author” =)
