One Or The Other – Chapter 1
“Good to know your possessive streak is still alive and kicking,” Bette tried to diffuse the tension.
“Just asking for a little respect, that’s all. But I shouldn’t have expected that much, especially from a politician.”
“Stop that right now, Tina. She has been nothing but a friend, so at least extend her a little courtesy,” Bette steeled her gaze, her smile long forgotten.
“Why should I? She tried to take you away from me!” Tina was on a roll now, missing the slight frown on Bette’s forehead.
Bette’s voice was eerily calm. “Then by all means I should call for Helena’s blood as well. After all, she destroyed my family and my job. And while we’re at it, why not put out a hit on Henry, too. His mere presence desecrated my house.”
Tina flew up from her seat. “What the fuck are you talking about? That’s the most ridiculous thing!”
“Good, then you know how absurd you sound right now.” Bette waited for her words to sink in. “When are we going to learn to move on?”
Neither woman answered. The silence stretched, allowing them to digest their conversation. It was a path they traveled often and a new route was needed. Then, Tina spoke. “I guess I got a little carried away.”
Bette shrugged. “We’ve had a long day.”
She sat down next to Bette, reaching out to hold Bette’s hand. Picking up the cue, Bette pulled the woman into a hug. Her arms encircled Tina’s shoulders, and her body relaxed at the contact.
“We have so much to work on,” Bette whispered. “We’ve lost so much time.”
“But we’re doing this, right?” Tina pulled away from their embrace, watching Bette intently. “There’s no doubt whatsoever?”
The taller woman stood and began pacing in the living room. Her hand rubbed tired temples. This is it, she thought to herself. Be honest.
“I do have doubts.” She regarded the seated blonde. “I think … we should keep our options open.”
Tina was stunned into silence. Her mind was racing, pushing her to act. “You’re fucking kidding me.”
Her eyes fluttered shut. Bette knew this was the hard part. “No, I’m not.”

I loved it!! But coop is so right. Thanks
Their dialogue has all the stomach-grinding angst of a real-life relationship. I mean to say, “Good job!” Looking forward to more. BTW – Don’t hockey and basketball go on forever? Thanks!
Whoa, heavy but amazing. I hope that Tina can learn to listen now that Bette is trying to communicate. And Bette needs to be ready to really try if she wants Tina back.
is Bette playing hard to get or what?! Lol. ok…slow Tina slow; as exasperating as that is. Bette is yours so ‘trust’…altho the senator is not one to trust…. and Bette is a ‘giver upper’. PPS.
Yea!! Nice beginning to the sequel. Thank you! I will patiently wait for a little “Season 5” alpha Tina (hint hint). I agree with coop..but then again…like IC says…what would a story be without a little drama? Drama is good, but I like happy endings much, much better. Maybe that is why I can’t put a book down once I start reading…I NEED to know how it ends.
Good to see you continue with the story. They need to calm down and talk and work thing out. Please post more, thanks!
Loving it!
Great beginning. Bette is so cautious and skeptical. This will be trying for both of them.
Is i was Bette i would have definitely stayed rounded Tina’s house ;-)great start can’t wait for the next chapter PPS
Sequelicious! Tina’s gonna have to slow down and think before she acts, cos the sentor’s always waiting… So glad you’re continuing, sky. thanks!
Bette should have stayed….maybe she’ll come back. pps
Welcome back….like that B is the one wanting to talk, process & take time, for T calms down she’ll see that this will give them the best scenario for a true reconciliation…Thx & PPS!
Tina needs to back off just a bit, but Bette needs to get her head out of her ass.
Fuc**** amazing. Just loved it. Please post soon :)
Bette’s giving me whiplash with the emotional ping pong she’s playing… and Tina needs to find a happy medium between pushing so hard and running. I liked the ‘courting’ idea.
