Chapter 72

“You look thoughtful “ Tina said to Bette. They were sitting on Tina’s bed eating pizza and chatting. They were both now wearing pyjamas – Tina thought that Bette looked beyond cute in a pair of red silk jimjams that were a little long in the leg for her but were perfect for Bette as she was a couple of inches taller than Tina.
“Just concerned about my mom and dad”
“There are times when it really isn’t our business “
“I know that but it is about me isn’t it ?”
“No – its about an ancient feud when  they were both very arrogant students. This hasn’t really got anything to do with us “
“I agree in a way but its also about me not telling him I was gay “
“And why didn’t you tell him ? Answer – because you were scared that he wouldn’t like the fact that you were dating me – the daughter of his nemesis “
Bette smiled and lent over and kissed Tina on the lips “I love you “
“I love you even more and I am so happy that we are a couple and I love that my parents have accepted that we are grown up enough to sleep together “
“I think they could pretend that we were and I could be asked to sleep in the spare room your parents are pragmatic “
“Do you think your folks would let us sleep at your place ?
Bette finished chewing a piece of pizza and washed it down with some coke
“I think we should get them talking to each other – then you and I can talk to dad. I would like the two of you to get to know each other. He isn’t as laid back as your mom and dad but he is sweet in his own way and he will tell you some gory murder stories about guys he has prosecuted “
“I have been thinking “
“Oh dear – should I be worried ?” Bette said smiling
“It would be cool if we could get all four of them and the two of us plus dad and Pete together at Thanksgiving – wouldn’t that be the best ?”
“Babe its months away “?”
“It would be great but its only June – we have 4th of July celebrations to figure out”
“Oh – good thought  – what shall we do ?”
“Go to the beach and invite Shane and Carmen along “
“Are they going to be back from Florida by then?”
“They should be – we should text them “
Bette grinned and picked her phone up and started to text “ We are both wearing jimjams and eating pizza and about to sleep together in Tina’s bed – beat that   -when are you two coming home ?” love B&T
Tina laughed as she finished her pizza and rubbed her hands on a napkin.
“That will freak them out “
“Now that we are out to our folks – all six of them – how do you feel about us being out next term ?” Tina asked
Bette smiled and nodded “I have been thinking about it and yes  – I am proud of you and proud of what you and I have. I know we will get some abuse and there will be gossip but I think that we are strong enough to deal with it – I would get a kick out of being the hottest lesbian seniors next year “
Tina put her arms round Bette and kissed her again
“I am so proud of you and I am more than game to be the hottest lesbian senior couple in the school. “ Tina stroked Bette’s face “You have come so far in such a short period of time – I am proud of you and even  prouder that I get to call myself your girl”
“You have got me to this place and I know I couldn’t have done it without you”
“You would have done it  – maybe I have helped the speed but this Bette – this kind and fantastic and this can do anything Bette – that Bette has always been there and I love seeing you coming out like this. I would be so proud to walk into school next term holding your hand”
