CHAPTER 38

　

It had crossed Bette’s mind more than once to still be wearing her pyjamas when Tina arrived at 10am but as much as it would have been funny she just couldn’t wander around the empty apartment not showered and dressed. She still had a lot of her weird little habits that she knew no one else knew about. Well sooner or later Tina was going to find out about them. They had discussed Bette’s so-called OCD and Tina didn’t see it as an issue – that made Bette very relieved because there were parts of her personality that still bugged her and she wished she could shake them off. Bette was sitting on the sofa thinking about her little tics and quirks and was so lost in her own thoughts that the knock on the door took her by surprise.

She jumped up and stopping only to look at herself in the mirror she went to the front door.Tina was dressed casually in black jeans and a checked shirt. Bette couldn’t help herself – she smiled to see the blonde.

“Damn – I was hoping to see the Porter PJ’s”

Tina joked – Bette didn’t smile – she had wanted to just be wearing her PJ’s as well. But her damn weird personality had nagged and nagged at her until she had went and got changed. Tina immediately saw that Bette didn’t appreciate the joke

“Hey – what’s up ?”

Bette turned away and walked into the apartment not bothering to close the front door. Tina walked into the flat and carefully closed the door and dropped the latch. She followed Bette into the living room

“Hey – what’s wrong ? Has something happened ? Because when I left you 12 hours ago we were doing great”

Bette looked round “Its not you “
“Has something happened ?”
“You made the same comment that I expected you to and I am sorry that I couldn’t do what you wanted”

Tina stood for a few seconds – she had seen Kate do this lots of times – always when Emma had made some cryptic remark and she was buying time before trying to figure out who or what had bugged Emma. Tina played over the last couple of minutes . She had arrived and Bette had greeted her with a big smile and now the smile was gone – it had gone at the comment about pyjamas. Bette was looking at her almost daring her say something. The pause helped Tina as she saw what the problem was
