CHAPTER 25
Tina had arranged to meet her father just outside one of the entrance to Central Park. It was Saturday and she had been thinking for a couple of days that he was the best person to talk to about how she was starting to feeling about Bette. As she walked towards the gate she saw him. She smiled – as much as she loved and adored her mothers she had a special relationship with her father. She knew it was because he didn’t often have to play the bad cop with her – he was always there to praise her and tell her how amazing she was. He was standing looking around, today he was wearing his usual faded jeans that she knew he’d had for at least a decade, a black tee-shirt and boots. She sneaked up behind him and squeezed his ass – he spun round and grinned at her
“I was hoping that was my daughter – it would be worrying if it hadn’t been “
“You are still a hunk “ Tina said
Matthew laughed “I was not a hunk when I was 19 and played football”
“You still are – you are in great shape for a man of your age “
“And what age is that ?” he asked
“Like you just said – 19”
Tina knew that her father was vain -which was funny because it was not something that she could ever accuse her mothers of . Emma was the least vain person she knew – clothes were what Kate made her buy.
“I do love my daughter but its worrying how well you know me”
“You would hate it if I didn’t “
“True “
He kissed her cheek and took her hand and squeezed it “How is my angel ?”
“I am fine”
“You look well “
“I am – what about you ?”
“Doing well – my case that was supposed to last a whole week ended on Tuesday morning with a sudden guilty plea by my client which shocked me because I was totally convinced that he was innocent. He got 10 years – pleaded down to 5 – he should be out in 3. So I had a less stressful week than I thought”
