Off the Chain- Ch. 3
Chapter 3
Marina rubbed the small of her back, as she straightened up. Wincing slightly, she looked around the Planets dining room. The long days were taking a toll, but the Planet was thriving. Marina was satisfied that her caf was finally beginning to come into its own. Recently, she had begun to open up after hours on Thursday evenings, as a more intimate wine bar, with a little live music on the side. The mostly female crowd was sizable, but pretty tame. All in all, Marina was content with her business.
What is it they say? she mused to herself, You can be happy in work, or happy in love, but never both at the same time? It certainly seemed true in her case. Since Francesca had sold her share of The Planet to Kit, work had been going well. But the hole that Francesca left had not been filled by anyone. Jenny was busy dating several people of both genders, and enjoying the liberation that went along with it. Marina sighed, Its probably best for me to be alone for awhile. Time to find myself and all that *****. She stifled a giggle and turned back to the kitchen. The early afternoon hours were typically slow, and a good time to make sure that the bakery was prepped for the next days breakfast crowd.
Marina? Special delivery! Jean, one of the waitresses called back to her. Marina turned to find a bouquet of brightly colored gerbera daisies sitting in a vase, along with Jean and Tamara grinning widely. Open the card! We want to see who your admirer is!
Dont you have some customers to see to? Marina smiled as she moved to the counter. It had been a long time since she had received flowers, and she was pleased with the flush of happiness they brought to her afternoon. She loosened the card from the holder and opened it quickly.
Marina,
Sorry to have run out so quickly Monday"not very neighborly! Just wanted to thank
you for the breakfast and the friendly conversation"hope to see you again soon!
– Sadie
Marina was surprised at the sudden roll she felt in her stomach. She smiled and tapped the card thoughtfully against her chin. Impulsively, she grabbed one of the oatmeal raisin cookies that had just come out of the oven, and placed it in a napkin. She reached for a glass and filled it with iced green tea. As she pushed open the door she called over her shoulder Im going out for a bit.

Well this would be good for Marina because she have a hard time right now and nobody share the difficult time with her, so maybe this time Sadie make her feel little bit better. I like it. Keep coming let see what next for Marina.! Thank you!
I love it, it’s perfect for Marina, mabey you should have taken it to the writers of the L word for season 2. I’m intrested to see what happens between Sadie and Marina. Keep up the great work.
I love any story about Marina. Sadie sounds like an interesting woman – they should both understand the “owning a business” thing…but will mutual respect turn into heat. Let’s see.
