Morning After (Time of Day 7)

“That was…” Tina’s fumbling statement was saved by Shane appearing in the doorway of the bedroom.

Shane gave Tina a small wave, and pointed towards the kitchen. Tina nodded in response, feeling a sense of relief at both knowing the identity of her mystery date and at feeling a bit of the fog from the prior night lift.

“Boys?” Henry’s outburst cut through the moment. “You’ve left me and now you’re out trolling for boys?”

Rarely had the rightness of a decision struck Tina as her decision to end things with Henry did right now. “That is Shane.” Tina stated, biting off each word. “She,” Tina emphasized the pronoun, “is a very good friend of mine. She,” again the emphasis, “has been over to your house.”

Henry just waved at the space in front of him, as if he were waving away the words. “I thought I knew you. It’s clear you and I have a little different sense about right and wrong.”

“Maybe we do. But if we do, Shane’s got nothing to do with that. All she was doing was making sure I got home okay last night.”

“Whatever, Tina. You’re a big girl. Learn to live your own life.”

“I’ve lived my own life, Henry. I live it now. And why should I want to live it without my friends?”

    “Fuckin’ dykes,” Henry muttered.

Tina sat back in the chair. She put her hands over her eyes, the light and the stress exacerbating the headache that pounded at the back of her eyes. “Good-bye, Henry.”

Some additional, yet incomprehensible, muttering followed, as did the slamming of her apartment door.

The sound of Shane clearing her throat got Tina to open her eyes?

    “Coffee?”

“Heh,” was about the only sound that Tina could muster in response.

“Coffee it is.” Shane ducked back into the kitchen, and Tina returned to her position of slumped down in the chair with an arm over her eyes.

The smell of coffee brought Tina back to the land of the living. She realized that she must have dozed off for a few moments while Shane took care of the preparations.

    1. An afternoon full of Jenny to start the rest of one’s Bette-less life… Ugh, no ta. I will blindly maintain that it’s not too late for B & T til the remnants of the good ship TiBette wash ashore. And even then, I’ll start crying “Rebuild!” like the pathetic sap I am. Erm, yes. Moving on, dumping that dry, toe-nail clipping clod is the best thing Tina’s done in ages. Excellent chapter, pseud. Thanks

    2. coop, that’s not mean, that’s being honest because, well, Jodi sucks. LOL At least Jodi sucks in terms of being half of a relationship that Bette wants. Shit, an afternoon of Jenny. Would it be bad if Tina went to work with a loaded weapon and blew Jenny’s head clean off her body? Anyway, I was trying to figure out who besides Henry wore gym socks. It was probably one of his anyway. lol ewwwww

    3. Another Great Chapter!!!!! I do hope Bette breaks up with Jodi just because of the way Jodi was with Bette. Tina and Bette need to be friends for awhile. Then lets see them get back together. Thanks PPS

    4. I am a sap also, not that I do not want to see Bette happy because god forbid she deserves that happiness, but she is the one who keeps going back to Tina for help with Jodi. Bette still somehow feels connected to Tina and just not by Angelica either. Maybe by continuing to be there for each other they will realize that they are still very much soul mates and would like to try again to be that family that they always envisioned.

    5. Hello Pseud, Another astounding chapter. I do think that Tina longs to be back with Bette but thinks that she is to late given Bette’s relationship with Jodi. How about kate and Jodi run off to NYC and live out their days stoned and arguing about artistic principles. Then Bette can lean on Tina and a beautiful rekindling of their romance will follow. This story is beggin out to be continued I for one will hand up and plead with you to do it. Seeing how Tina could win back Bette would be an interesting and entertaining twist on their relationship. Pseud, you have the talent to make it a must read story; full of promise and excitement yet tender and loving. Shane was a consumate friend throughout. Thank you so much for this morning pleasure. Your Loyal Fan. PS – Am drumming my fingers hoping the you will continue this journey. Remember sometimes the stories pick us and not the other way around.

    6. Tina can speak for herself, but I’M not a shit for hoping Bette breaks up with Jodie. I think the prospect of an afternoon with Jenny would make me feel worse than a hangover. Loathsome creature.
