    Chapter 8: Uh oh…

    The rest of the week flew by, well as far as Bette was concerned up on cloud nine. Getting closer to Tina had made her so happy, even Alice questioned her mood.


    "You know I love seeing you happy Porter, but this is ridiculous."


    It was great; Bette hadn’t feel this light in years and she was truly happy.

    That is…until Friday rolled around.

    The girls were sitting at a table in the cafeteria, joking, laughing, and having fun, until Tina decided to announce it.


    "I’m going out with Eric tonight."


    Okay, so it wasn’t an announcement so much as it was an excuse because Dana had asked them if they wanted to hang out and Tina was the first to decline (politely of course).

    If Bette ever wondered if she had a split personality, that moment was when it showed. Her mood had changed so dramatically so fast that anyone really paying attention would’ve gotten whiplash. Suddenly lunch didn’t taste as good, it wasn’t as sunny and warm out as before, the whole day had turned to crap in a matter of seconds.

    Feeling a sudden bout of nausea wave over her, Bette stood and excused herself.

    "Sorry guys, I’m not feeling so well. I’m just gonna go to the nurse."

    The chorus of "Sorry Bette" and "Want me to come with?" made Bette feel a little better, but then she caught sight of Tina’s date and thought for sure she was going to be sick. She politely refused and took off.

    But Alice wasn’t far behind. She caught up with Bette in the hallway as she pulled out the keys to her car.

    "Porter are you cutting! Oh my God it’s a landmark event! Alert the media!" Alice yelled, trying to make light of the situation.

    "I have to get out of here." Bette stated her head down as she went straight for the exit.

    "Now w-wait a minute," Alice said, pulling on Bette’s arm to make her stop and turn. "Listen, it’s just a date, nothing else–"

    "But it’s a date with Monty." Bette growled. "That asshole doesn’t deserve a girl like Tina. He shouldn’t even be able to breathe the same air as her."

    "I agree." Alice nodded, "But you can’t control this Bette. And you can’t up and leave every time she mentions his name. You’re confusing the hell out of her. One minute you’re all happy go lucky best friends with the girl and the next you’re all weird and running to your car."

    2. oh for crying out loud, Tina should just move the fvck in with Eric already and blow Bette off. I am sickened by the smashing of their true and beautiful love, as if S3 isn’t painful enough….damn

    3. Manda, due to your pursuit of knowledge through education I can accept you posting less often (it hurt me to type that). This story is still kicking ass. In the land of Wishful Thinking (population: Me), it would be awesome if Tina and Bette had a face-to-face yelling match where their intensity is replaced by passion and they have their first kiss. Regardless, I love this story and trust wherever you decide take us on this TiBette journey.

    13. Do you call this a little drama….if you’re a teenager this is HUGE LOL. Poor Dana and I like Tinas mother, she just know that Eric is bad for her baby :o)) I wonder does she know that Bette is perfect for Tina LOL….
