The next day we continued to pack Dana’s stuff and after two days we had moved it all into my apartment, in between our visits to go and see the baby.

After a few days off to move, Dana had to go back to training and I went back to working on my next article on my laptop at my desk. As I opened up the programme to continue writing my phone rang. I pulled myself up from the chair to go and answer it.

“Hello?” I answered.

“It that Alice Pieszecki?” a woman’s voice asked. I vaguely recognized it but couldn’t think where I recognized it from.

“Yes it is”

“Hello Alice, it’s Mimi, from KCRW”. Immediately I remembered, a few days before I had been to an interview at KCRW, a radio station, to be a presenter on one of the radio programmes. I had been sure that I had messed up the interview, as I had rambled on about my connections idea the whole time and Mimi seemed to find this funny. I felt sure that this was going to be a rejection phone call.

“Mimi! Hi!”

“Hello Alice. I’m pleased to tell you that we want to offer you the job for the radio presenter, congratulations”

“Oh my God! Are you serious? That’s great thank you!” I did a little hop of joy.

I heard Mimi chuckle on the end of the phone. “You’re welcome. And Alice? There’s more” More? What more could she want to tell me? “We really loved your chart idea, we would like to offer you your own slot on the station, to develop the chart idea. We think it would be really entertaining and interesting for our listeners. You certainly have the personality to be on the radio”

“Oh my God! Thank you thank you!” I was so excited, I punched the air and jumped up and down a little bit more.

“It’s my pleasure Alice; I’m looking forward to this. How about you come into the station tomorrow morning, let’s say 9 o’clock, so we can discuss your ideas further?” Mimi asked.
“That sounds great. I will see you at 9 o’clock sharp” I told her.
