Chapter Twenty-three
About six months ago…
Bette had been tossing and turning on the hotel bed for almost an hour trying her might to fall asleep but to no avail. Thoughts were flooding her mind. It was her fourth day in Flint, Michigan and still nothing good had happened from the time she arrived to see her half sister.
The private detective that Bette hired told her that Kit was living in an old abandoned warehouse. She was advised not to go there alone because it was dangerous and the place was delinquent, those things didn’t bother her because all she wanted was to see her long lost half sister. After finding the place, the brunette saw Kit’s fragile body lying on one corner, lying on her side. Her body barely covered by a dirty worn-out jacket that somehow served as her shield from the cold.
Seeing Kit in that condition broke her heart, tears came rushing on her cheeks. Bette composed herself first before approaching the older woman but still couldn’t help some stray tears from falling. She touched her arms then gently ran her hands up and down her shoulder and back to wake her up.
Kit opened her eyes but furrowed her brows when she saw a beautiful young woman crying beside her and calling her name. At first she didn’t understand what Bette was telling her for her body and mind were so tired as if she didn’t have enough life left in her for she hadn’t eaten for several days.
The brunette brought Kit to the nearest diner and ordered as much food as Kit could take. Once Kit was done and full Bette introduced herself. When Kit realized who she was, the older woman was so angry she almost hurt the brunette. She told Bette that she didn’t want to do anything with her and that she didn’t need her help and just marched away.
Despite her sister’s volatile attitude, Bette understood where Kit was coming from and she promised herself that she wouldn’t stop until her sister changed her mind. She knew that eventually Kit would accept her and that they’d be together one day.
She lied on her back and looked up to the ceiling, thinking of everything that had happened to her the past few days then all of a sudden a face of a beautiful blonde showed up. The blonde was just staring at her at first as if she’s trying to read Bette’s mind then a smile registered on her face, her smile was warm and kind and her hazel eyes were mesmerizing. Bette’s heart skipped a beat.

great story…whenever i see your story thats the frist one i read :).now where did u come up with flint michigan because thats where i’m from. can’t wait for your update.
Now, that was a cool twist to the story. Sometimes when reading a story with a different twist to the Bette and Tina characters, it seems hard to read because of our own set expectations… But I find them quite intriguing to see how the story and characters develop. I’m enjoying your take on these two. Bette always seems to be a bit slow on recognizing her own reality, especially when its right in front of her. Hopefully her veil will be lifted soon to the fact that Tina is her destiny. Time will tell.
This is a sidenote to BatnAA, wow thanks for you insightfulness. What you wrote was something I hadn’t considered. We all want B and T together because of our expectations. But your right… Sometimes our life experiences color our decisions in not so healthy ways. Sarah does offer Bette a love that she has craved. I’ve experienced the conditional love and it wasn’t a picnic. It was a learning experience. But because of it, I’m in such a healthier place in my life now. It was a gift. Thanks for your insight.

What a wonderful intermezzo. Peggys story is really heartbreaking – and will bring Bette back on the right path again, I would say. Nice twist.

Look at them…”Bette saw how the woman shamelessly flirt with one another, other were kissing almost swallowing each other and some were grinding so hard as if they were having sex on the dance floor””All that fucking with no art is really rather dreary””Yeah…” as Bette’s eyes were on them she realized that she didn’t want to be one of those women, sexual gratification was one thing but to find someone who would be with you thru your ups and downs. Someone to cuddle with, when the rain was falling and all you wanted was just to stay at home, someone whom you could laugh with even with the corniest and silliest jokes. She wanted to have that someone in her life. She thought of Sarah’s face and immediately she felt warm inside but then after a few seconds Tina’s face abruptly entered her mind.****phacey – First of all thank you for the update. I am always thrilled to see a new post on this story. The conversation between Bette and Peggy was very insightful and I think it explains a lot about why Bette chose Sarah but maybe gives a little insight as to why she asked Tina to be friends when she returned from the trip. Afterall Tina was just a girl she met in a bar and had sex with just like Erica except Tina was her first so it meant something. There is no doubt Bette was in lust with Tina but the question she had to answer was Tina a woman she could settle down with? No doubt Tina with her vast experience was good in bed but could she offer Bette all the other things that were more important in a love relationship than sex? Tina’s reaction to Bette’s question proved her inability to have a platonic relationship that could have grown into something meaningful and lasting. Her actions showed that her interest was in having Bette sexually without any thought to what Bette needed emotionally from a lover besides f*cking. Bette chose to be with Sarah not only because she had a two year crush but because her self-esteem had grown and she was experienced with sex and now she thought she stood a chance. Additionally when compared to Tina Sarah was exactly what Bette has dreamed about in a partner. She’s known Sarah for two years and they had a foundation and things in common to build on. Bette’s indecision now stems from her upbringing and lack of love in her life. She’s not equipped emotionally to know and feel deserving of the type of unconditional love which Sarah has shown her so she’s questioning it. Tina’s love is very conditional and selfish but it’s the only type of love that Bette knows so there is a certain comfort in gravitating towards the familiar and what she thinks she deserves even if it’s not the best choice. Bette will not have learned anything from Peggy’s story and eventually she will destroy what she has with Sarah and she will chose the girl she picked up in a bar that propositioned her for sex. Looking forward to the next chappy whenever you are ready.
Well what do you know this Bette after all has a little secret. So aside from Tina and before jumping into a relationship with Sarah she actually slept or should I say had a one night stand with a stranger. I guess it’s okay at least she got a taste of living a life of a carefree woman even for just one night. I didnt expect that you’ll include Peggy in this story but I loved it, her story about a long lost love was heartbreaking and I’m glad that Bette was able to talk to her because somehow it gave her a little clarity on what she wanted to have in her life.
