Tina was sitting at her desk when she heard a knock on her office door.

“Come in.”

Tina saw the bouquet of flowers and balloons before she saw who was carrying them. A smile broke out on her face when Bette peaked out from behind the arrangement. “Happy Birthday Tina.”

Tina got up from her desk and took the flowers from Bette’s arms and placed them on the desk. She gave Bette a hug and kiss on the cheek. “Bette this is a nice surprise. What are you doing here and how did you know it was my birthday?”

“Valerie of course. She keeps me abreast of everything that goes on in your life.”

“Really?”

“Actually no. She only mentioned your birthday because I asked her to help me at the WeHo Center this weekend. She said she couldn’t because you two had plans to go away for the weekend to celebrate your birthdays.”

“Yeah it’s kind of a tradition with us. We are born two days apart so we celebrate our birthdays together every year with a wild girl’s weekend. Thank you for the flowers and balloons. That was really sweet of you but you didn’t have to come all the way down here to deliver them.”

“I took a chance you might be free to give me that studio tour we talked about; and also thought maybe I could take you to lunch. It’s been such a hectic couple of weeks since Valerie’s opening that I haven’t had time to talk to you.”

“Yeah she was a big hit. I’m very happy for her. She told me that Francesca wants to show her work in Italy and that Peggy is putting some pieces in the Peabody private exhibit. All thanks to you.”

“It was a team effort and she deserves the success. I’m just happy to have been a part of it. So can you break away for a couple of hours?”

“I’m sorry Bette I can’t. I hate that you came all this way but you really should have called first. I’m swamped. I have back to back meetings all afternoon.”

“You’re right I should have called. I’m sorry. I’ll let you get back to work then.”

“Will you take a rain check?”
