“So, Helena, Bette tells me you’re into films and the movie business.” Maxine asked as the four women ate their breakfast.
“Yeah, I have been since I was a kid.” Helena sat her fork down, “My family owns a studio.”
“Their own studio?”
“Shaolin Studios.” Helena nodded.
“So you must come from money, then?”
Bette’s eyes shot up and starred daggers at her mother.
“Maxine, I don’t…” Helena placed her hand on Bette’s thigh.
“It’s okay, Bette.” She refocused her attention on Maxine, “Yes, my family is wealthy.”
Maxine nodded, wondering if her daughter was dating Helena only for her money.
“But that doesn’t matter.” Bette looked at Helena, her face serious, “Because her money is the last thing that I’m worried about.”
Helena smiled, leaning in to kiss Bette, before Kit interrupted them with a cough. They backed away from one another, smiles hiding slight embarrassment.
“I have a clean establishment I’m trying to run here, lovebirds.” Kit teased and then, looking between Bette, Helena, and Maxine, spoke, “I think that what these two have is the real thing, Maxine. I’ve never seen Bette so happy.”
Helena’s phone began buzzing, moving around the table. “Mummy” read on the screen.
“Excuse me, will you?” She retreated to a corner of the café, “Mummy? Hi, how are you?”
“I’m good. I’m on my way home, darling, and I called home. Your brother answered. Tell me what your brother is doing there?”
“Well, Luke said that he wanted to see you.”
“Well, I’d like to see him as well. He told me that you have a girlfriend. So, I’m giving you now to tell me who your girlfriend, although I already know.”
“It’s Bette.”
“Oh, splendid!”
“I didn’t expect you’d be that happy.” Helena chuckled.
“Well, of course I’d be happy! Bette is a good woman with a strong head on her shoulders. If I were a lesbian and 20 years younger, I’d be completely smitten.”
“Mummy, I think you’re already pretty smitten.” Helena looked back at Bette, watching her interact shyly with her mother.
“I could be. We should have dinner tonight. Are you two free?”

Ash I know how it feels to go grocery shopping,,lol. Okay, great chappy especially that Peggy is back in the picture. You know it’s kinda wierd that all of a sudden that both Maxie and Luke enter into Bette and Helena’s life at the sametime. Are these two working up a scam or is my devious mind working on overload,,lol. But knowing Peggy she don’t let anything get her by and with Kit in the pic niether does she, cause Bette is a like a daughter more than a sister. Great chappy and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Peggy will totally be able to tell if Maxime is the real deal or if she’s only back to somehow manipulate Bette. Thanks for updating before grocery shopping. Lol.
