Loving You Forever: A Bette and Tina Story – 3

    Previously

Sitting on the couch and clutching Bette’s photo close to her Tina felt Bette’s goodbye in her heart and cried.

“Let’s go back to the Planet. Maybe Kit has more information.” Dana suggested and removed Bette’s photo from Tina’s hand.

“That sounds like a good idea Dana. Come on Tina.” Shane extended her hand to Tina and guided her out of the house and toward the car.

Shane, Dana and Alice watched from the couch as Tina paced back and forth in front of Kit’s desk.  Tina placed her hands on the desk and leaned for forward. “Kit, tell me again what Bette said.”

“Tina, how many times do I have to tell you?  I must have told you ten times already.”

“Please, just tell me again what she said…please.” Tina pleaded.

“She said that she had been trying for months to get you to see her, to talk to her, to have some sort of contact with her, that she was tired of using your friends as a go between. She said she is finally accepting the fact that you want nothing to do with her.” Kit walked around her desk and stood in front of Tina. “During the times you and Bette were together I always believed that you loved her and that somehow you and she would find a way to get past this mess and find a way to reconnect.” Tears pooled in Tina’s eyes. “Bette said you had her heart, that her heart only wanted you.” Tina removed her wedding band that she wore on a black cord from underneath her shirt and read the inscription: I give my heart to you.  Tears blurred Tina’s vision and she wiped them away.

    “Bette’s moved to New York.”

“Where in New York?” asked Tina.

“I don’t know. I don’t even know if she still has friends in New York.”

“How about that Peggy Peabody she kept talking about?” Alice said as she walked over to Tina and Kit.

“Maybe…I mean, Bette seemed close to her. Whenever she went returned from a business trip from New York or whenever Peggy was in town it was always ‘Peggy said this. Peggy said that.’ I’ve never met Peggy. I would always have a production meeting at Alphaville whenever she happened to be in town.” Tina turned to Alice. “I wouldn’t know how to get in touch with her? Kit, do you have her number?”

    1. I’d like to read those email and letters that Bette wrote in her fight for Tina. Bette has really long string, and Tina is attached. Thanks for the post.
