The girls have all taken two Tylenols. Shane is lying on the floor, while Alice and Dana have each taken a couch.
Tina: (observing the girls) “You all feeling a little better?”
Dana: (half asleep) “Yeah. You’re a great nurse, Tina. And by the way, if you know of any single women friends”
Shane: (sitting up to cover Dana’s mouth) “You’ve been great, Tina. We’re thrilled Bette has found you.”
Tina: (smiling) “Thanks.”
Alice: (groaning) “I don’t feel so good”
Tina: (looking concerned) “What can I get you Alice?”
Alice: (laughing) “Well, you and Porter can put on another show for us!”
Tina: (blushing) “I think you’ve had your share for the night, Party Machine.”
Shane: (throwing a pillow at Alice) “Grow up!”
Tina: (heading back toward the kitchen with the empty glasses) “Well, you all get settled and I’ll check up on you again.”
Alice, Dana, Shane: (in unison) “Thanks, Tina!”
Alice: “I think I am falling for Tina!”
Dana: “Damnme too!”
Shane: “Get your own woman, you horny lezzies!”
Alice: “You know what we’re all getting tonight?”
Dana: (wide eyed) “I’m a little drunkbut you’re so NOT sleeping with me!”
Shane: (laughing) “Me neither!”
Alice: (throwing a pillow at each of them) “Not getting THAT, you horn dogs!” (holding up her magic cigarettes, howling) “Getting high!”
Shane and Dana: “*****!”
While Tina had been in the living room tending to the girls, Bette snuck out of the kitchen. Bette made her way down the hallway, where she made a quick stop at the hallway closet to retrieve several candles. She took them into her room and placed candles all around. Bette then walked over to the stereo and turned it on, filling the room with soft music. As she walked out of the room, she flipped the light off and then went in search of Tina. She found her in the kitchen, putting the glasses they had been drinking out of into the sink.
Bette: (smiling as Tina looked up at her when she walked into the room) “You didn’t need to do that. I would have taken care of it later.”
Tina: “I know you would have, but I was there and you ran away.”
Bette: (moving close to Tina and laughing) “I didn’t run away exactly. I wasjust come with me and I will show you where I ran away to.”
Tina: (laughing) “Should I be worried?”
Bette: (reaching out to take Tina’s hand and pulling her with her towards the bedroom) “No. You trust me, right?”
Tina: (smiling as she looked up to see Bette looking back into her eyes) “Yes.”
Bette: “Good.”
Bette led Tina into the bedroom and for just one moment Tina froze. She looked into Bette’s eyes wondering if Bette was expecting them to make loveand then she remembered Bette’s words. Tina relaxed because she knew that Bette wouldn’t push for more than she was ready to give, so she couldn’t resist teasing Bette just a little.
Tina: (teasing) “Porter, you aren’t trying to get me into bed are you?”
Bette: (softly laughing) “Absolutely! Will you stay with me tonight and lay snuggled up in my arms as you fall asleep, like you did last night?”
Tina: (looking into Bette’s eyes questioning) “Snuggling only?”
Bette: (laughing) “Yes. Well unless you decide that you want to have your way with me in the night like last time, but this time do me a favor and wake me up before you do it.”
Tina: (softly laughing as she went up and gently kissed Bette) “Okay, you have my promise that if that happens I will wake you up.”
Bette: (laughing) “I don’t know now if I will be able to go to sleep.”
Tina: (teasing and acting like she is heading towards the bedroom door) “Well maybe I should just go home so you can sleep.”
Bette: (gently grabbing Tina’s arm and turning her around before she pulled her into her arms) “I’m not letting you go. BesidesI think earlier we made plans to spend some private time together and I believe that we agreed to share another dance. Dance with me T.”
Tina: (gently smiling as she looked up into the face of the woman that had stolen her heart) “Gladly.”
Bette and Tina held each other close and slowly danced to the music, their bodies in perfect tune with one another. As they danced, Bette began to place soft gentle kisses on Tina’s shoulder, her neck and her cheek before she finally made her way over to Tina’s mouth for a smoldering kiss. The kiss lasted only for a few moments before Bette pulled back as she stared into Tina’s eyes.
Bette: “Baby, can I ask you something?”
Tina: “Sure.”
Bette: (hesitantly) “The kiss you gave me when you got out of the carYou said that everything felt right.”
Tina: (smiling as she pulled her hands up and put them on each side of Bette’s face as she gently kissed her and then pulled back from her) “It did, it does. Betteas I was driving, Alice made a comment that made me realizethat I may have hurt your feelings earlier at the club because I turned away when you tried to kiss me. I was so nervous about meeting everyone and I just freaked a little bit. To be honest, it upset me to think that I might have done anything to hurt you and I am so.”
Bette: (placing two fingers over Tina’s lips to stop her words before she softly spoke) “It’s okay. I understand that you were nervous. Besides I can honestly say that the kiss in the street more than made up for it.”
Tina: “Bette, I have a confession about the kiss.”
Bette: “What is it, baby?”
Tina: (blushing a little as she smiled) “I surprised myself by getting out of the car and kissing you like that.”
Bette: (softly laughing) “I am so glad you did. Oh and by the way, if you ever feel the urge to kiss me like that again, please feel free.”
Tina: (smiling) “Is that an open invitation?”
Bette: (sexily as she stared intently into Tina’s eyes) “Anytime, anywhere.”
Tina: (taken aback for a moment at the intensity of Bette’s gaze found herself mute for a few seconds before she managed to speak) “I’llkeep that in mind.”
Bette: (leaning in and gently kissing Tina) “I hope you’ll do more than keep it in mind. TI have a confession of my own that I need to make.”
Tina looked up into Bette’s eyes trying to read what was in them but saying nothing.
Bette: (speaking softly) “Tina, I know that we haven’t known each other that long but when I am with youI feel as if we have known each other forever. Every minute that I spend with you, just makes me want to spend even more time with you. Even though it may seem that things are moving way too fast, I can’t keep my feelings inside anymore. I seem to have fallen hopelessly in love with you and I can only hope one day that you will return those feelings.”
Tina: (closing her eyes for a moment as a single tear ran down her cheek before she spoke) “Bette, you are right in saying that things have been moving fast and I don’t…”
Bette: (interrupting Tina) “T, please don’t”
Tina: (putting her index finger over Bette lips to stop her words before reaching up and gently kissing Bette and then pulling back) “Baby, please let me finish. I was going to say that I don’t exactly know how it happened so quickly butI have fallen in love with you too.”
As soon as Bette heard Tina say that she had fallen in love with her, she pulled Tina further into her arms and she began to kiss her. It was a slow, deep heartfelt kiss that went on for several long minutes and conveyed all of the love that both of them were feeling.
Bette: (pulling back slightly from Tina so she could look into her eyes while her hand was stroking the back of Tina’s head) “I love you Tina.”
Tina: (staring intently into Bette’s eyes) “I love you too.”
Bette leaned in and placed a lingering kiss on Tina lips before she pulled back. Bette encompassed Tina into a tight embrace and held her there, enjoying the feel of having her wrapped in her arms.
Bette: “I love you so much and I am so glad that you gave us the chance to get here.”
Tina: (pulling out of Bette’s tight embrace but remaining loosely in her arms) “Bette, if I am honest, I will admit that I think I began to fall in love with you from the moment I met you. I had to give this a chance even though I tried to run from it for awhile.”

Anyway, I always had a BIG weakness for fairy tales that fulfilled my child’s heart of sweetness and beauty… And thanks god, even in “real life” we’re able to dream. When one hasn’t any other choice but imagining what would have been life with all the good old “if only”, dreams and stories are such a comforting thing.
