Love Soul Heaven Hell – Chaper V
“Are you looking for a particular model of that brand?,” the man asked, trying to be helpful.
“Yes," Bette answered, “and I’m interested in these particular lenses also,” showing the man a piece of paper, on which the tech guy from Mike’s team had written down specifications of a camera and lenses for her.
Bette had decided to look for a camera after getting hooked on photography while handling one of the advanced cameras Mike’s team had given to her to use while she was helping them. She talked to Tina about it while on their flight over from Kabul. She figured she’d have enough time, as they waited for their flight. She was told there was a good store in the Dubai airport, and she’d walked over to it shortly after their flight from Kabul had landed. The store manager who had gone over to help her, when she’d entered the store, studied the items listed in the paper, and nodded his head. “A very good camera, ma’am, and quite advanced, I might add. The lenses you’re looking for are also quite specific…”
Bette smiled, “Yeah, I was using a camera exactly like that recently, in all kinds of tough conditions, and really liked it. Got me hooked on photography, and, yeah: I agree, it’s not the usual camera an amateur like me would look for.”
“And the man I asked advice from about the camera highly recommended those lenses for what I plan to shoot,” Bette continued, “Mainly landscapes, or seascapes, and portraits…for now.”
“He’s right,” the camera store manager agreed, nodding his head. “I must caution you that I may not have the camera or the lenses in stock, though,” he rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He added, “It’s just that this is an airport store, and our main store downtown would be the store that would more likely have a specialized camera like this.”
Noting Bette’s disappointment, however, he said, “But, if we don’t have it, I can immediately call the store downtown to add what you need to the delivery they are bringing over. Okay?”
Bette nodded her thanks. He excused himself to check what he had in the limited stock the store maintained.
She browsed around the store while she waited, debating on whether to add other items that she saw, when the store manager came up to her, clearly excited.
