Wednesday came before Bette knew it.  At 2:45 she left her office to head over for the interview with the DA.  She got to the DAs office around 3:20.  It was 3:40 when the door opened and Nancy Richardson came barreling in.

Hi.  I apologize for being a little late.  I was in court and the examination of the witness went a bit longer than expected.  Bette Porter, correct?  My name is Nancy Richardson.  Please call me Nancy.  Lets go into my office so we can get this started.

Nancy saw the Court Reporter she asked to be there for this interview.  You, too, Mike.  Come on in.

Bette, Mike here will be taking down everything we say today so I can have a permanent and verbatim record or what we discuss.  He cant take down a shake or a nodding of the head – actually, Mike does note it – but its always best to answer verbally and specifically when saying yes or no, and not umm-umm.  We dont want to use our interpretation of what you mean.  Okay?

Yes, I understand.

Great.  Why dont you start with the first time you met Faye Buckley.  If youre able to, Id like you to state everything you can remember about any words that passed between you and where you were when these conversations occurred.  No matter how insignificant you may think it is, just tell me.  Let me judge whether or not its important.

Okay.  It all started with an exhibit we had at the Center called Provocations

Bette went through and told Nancy every bit of information she could remember from the first time she met Buckley to the demonstration at her home by members of her group.  She told her about the words, Watch Yourself written on her car window.

Bette, you didnt see who wrote that on your window, correct?

No, it was on the window when we left Tinas apartment.
