Carmen looked at all the faces around her, “Let’s go and talk outside, get some fresh air.”
Alice stood up walking towards the entrance, Carmen behind her.

“Okay, so you wanted to talk to me?” she asked sitting down.

Carmen sat down opposite her so that she could see into the café and their friends incase she needed them to come and back her up. “Yeah, we have not had a proper conversation for a while, let alone hung out together”.

“Look about that Carmen, I’m sorry. I’ve been quite busy with…”

“Cut the crap Alice and just tell me the truth. I think I know but I would like you to tell me”. Alice sat staring into space “Alice you cannot be lost for words, your Alice you can talk about anything”. Carmen smirked.

Alice grinned. “I know did you see their faces when I started to go on about drinking and then the leggy blonde”

“Alice”

“Okay, okay. Look I want to apologize for the way I have been acting towards you lately. I know I’ve been distant. Its just I feel like crap when I am around you.” Alice raked a hand through her hair. “I did not want to break the news to you in the first place, let alone in front of everyone but Shane gave me no choice. She’s my best friend and I would do anything for her, but I must admit it was the worst thing ever. And I’m sorry”.

“Alice can you stop apologizing about that. You did what she asked you to do. Although I do not know the reasons behind the decision, and it hurt to be told walking down the aisle I do not blame you Alice, I never have and never will.” She lent forward giving her a hug.

“Look Alice there is something that I have wanted to know. I just want to know why she did it. The night before she came to my room, grinning from ear to ear, if her father and step mum had not interrupted us things could have gone further, as usual. But they did interrupt and the last image I have of Shane now is of her walking down the hotel corridor, hand in hand with her dad.”
