Dana shook her head. “No, I’m fine. I can wait as long as it takes. I need to know if she’s alright.”

Bette rubbed Dana’s back. “You know everything’s going to be alright. Alice is strong, you know she’ll make it.”

“Thanks for the support, but I just feel like she’s not okay. I want everything to be okay, but I know it isn’t.” Dana ran her fingers through her hair. “I need to take a walk.”  Dana got up from her seat.

“Are you sure you’re okay?”

Dana nodded her head. “For right now” Dana walked to the closest exit door and walked out. She saw a bench and walked over to it. She needed a breath of fresh air. She wiped her face and sniffed. She felt like this was all her fault. Alice wouldn’t have been in this state if she would have told her why she left. She still hasn’t told her the truth. She just told her that she needed closure with Lara, but that wasn’t it. She felt guilty for everything. She grabbed the hair tie around her wrist and pulled her hair up. She licked her lips tasting the salt from the tears. She took a deep breath and walked back inside. She fixed her jacket and took her seat next to a sleeping Lara. She laid her head back against the cold wall. She sighed and felt her eyes getting heavy. She decided to close her eyes and took a little nap.

            “What are you saying Dana?”

Dana stood there and sighed. “I need to have closure with Lara before our relationship can go any farther.”

“If you think that’s going to help our relationship go right ahead. I just hope you’re making the right choice.”

“Thanks Al” She gave Alice one last kiss before walking out of her apartment.

“Dana”

Dana jumped up when she heard her name. “Yeah.”

Shane looked at her friend. “The doctor’s coming.” Dana shot up out of her seat and looked down the hall. Everybody watched as the tall man walked up to them. Dana and Shane stood there for the answers.

He stopped and looked at his chart. “Are you guys here for Alice Pieszecki?” they  both nodded their head. “Well Miss Pieszecki had some nerve damage in her spine. We’re out of the surgery and now we’re moving her to her own room.”

Dana interrupted. “Is she alright? Can we see her?”

Shane put her hand on Dana’s shoulder. “Dana, let him talk.” Dana sighed and let him talk.

“There’s also a possibility that she might be temporarily paralyzed from the waist up.” Dana felt her heart sink. Everybody looked in sadness and despair.

“W-what?”

“It’s nothing permanent, but she’ll have to be in a wheel chair for a while if she is. All I can say is pray and hope for the best.” Dana walked away with her hand on her head.

Lara got up to console her, but Shane stopped her. “What are you doing Shane? I need to talk to her.”

“Just let her be for now.” Lara looked at Dana slid down the wall away from everybody and sighed.

            Dana leaned her head against the wall and tear up again. She dropped her head to her knees and closed her eyes.

“I’m sorry Alice”
