AUNT BEATRICE- (To Tina, who is standing next her on Jeff’s balcony with glass of wine in hand…) “So what’s this about a bunch of lesbians and an art gallery little Jeff’s been mentioning?” (Tina looks at her smiling…) “Well?”
TINA- “Oh just a new group of people I…well, we both met recently. By almost pure chance…almost.”
AUNT B- “Yeah, well why aren’t you going to this event tonight? I didn’t come here to keep you from more exciting things in your life my dear. You know that’s the last thing I want and you know you’ll be seeing me more often now that you’re out on the West Coast…”
TINA- “I know but…”
AUNT B- “BUT…BUT…BUT…but what?”
TINA- “I miss you. That’s rude…you come to visit and I leave?”
AUNT B- “Honey I’m not your mother. I don’t stand on so much ceremony…hec, we had dinner, I got to see you, spend some time with you…but you’re young…a happening kind of chick…” (She’s dramatizing and Tina starts laughing because that kind of talk is SO not Aunt B…) “oh stop laughing at me kid…” (Tina puts her arm around her and continues to chuckle…) “I try to be hip you know…”
TINA- “No need to try…you ARE hip Aunt B!”
AUNT B- “Yeah, uh huh…flattering me eh?” (Tina nods, smiling…)
TINA- “I really miss you. It’s good to see you again.”
AUNT B- “Me too kido, me too.”
(At the reception, Bette is entertaining the guests, Dr. Bertrandeisen is entertaining Justine and Shane as they watch her interact with people from the art world who are pining to meet her, and Alice and Dana are…well, being the two happy-go-lucky members of the Lesbian Patrol and interacting with the art world aficionados.)
ALICE- “Look at her…”
DANA- “Who?”
ALICE- “Her…”
DANA- “Where?”
ALICE- “Over there…” (Motioning to one end of the gallery…)
DANA- “Where over there?!”
ALICE- “The tall one…brunette…over there…if I were showing you any more I’d be point for crying out loud…over there…”
DANA- “Al… ‘over there’ is kinda a generic concept…there’s a hundred people ‘over there’…”
ALICE- “She’s like the tallest one there you ditzy broad!”
DANA- “Ohhh…the one in the red dress?”
ALICE- “That’s not brunette hair…”
DANA- “But she’s really tall…”

Great post T, but Tina needs to relax and let nature take it course. I feel for poor Bette with these new emotions and Tina with her struggling emotions, but I want these two to take even a little step to move forward. Of course, Bette can’t do that if Tina keeps trying to run.

OMG that damn doorbell!!!!!! T, you had me so captured, so wanting, so hoping that maybe JUST maybe…and then !!!!DING DONG! GRRRRR. Your descriptive writing is priceless. I so felt I was there, and wanted to reach for Tina as she grabbed the back of her neck to gain some composure. She was so out of her element, and who could blame her right? Porter charm. Thanks for such a lengthy chapter. I’m not sure if the readers understand that the story generally posts at about 3 posted pages for every 10 that are actually written. Awesome effort, and please post when you can….sooner than later would be nice.
Well, well well Merlin another great chapter and i got 7 pages now that’s more like it. Why is tina taking so long to tell bette how she feels, if the feeling is there why can’t she just tell her, love is a great thing and it should be shouted from the tallest building / mountain!!!! You kept me waiting to long for that chapter and hopefully you don’t keep me waiting too long for the next one!
