Chapter 24

Friday afternoon came so fast for Dana, she had done a half day of training and she was on her way to swap her car for Howe’s truck. Alice days were dragging by, she was so bored sitting looking at the same four walls, granted her friends did pop in as often as they could to break up her day as much as possible. Shane was great, and things seemed to be improving with her and Carmen too which made everyone happy. Alice was looking forward to going to visit her Mom, not just for a change of scenery but so she could let Dana see where she actually grew up. She had never gone back to her Mothers house since she had left, to go college, and she never looked back. This would be the first time she would have slept in her old bed and in her old room for oh so many years.

Dana pulled into her parent’s driveway and stopped the car, she was hoping Howie would be outside waiting for her so she wouldn’t have to speak to her Mother, but no she went up and opened the door.

"Anyone home? It’s me." Dana shouted as she stepped into the hallway.

"Of course we’re home." came her Mothers reply from the dinning room, "I’m in here, sorting the table for our dinner party tonight" Sharon informed her. Dana walked into the dinning room.

"Where’s Howie? Is his Truck in the Garage?" Dana asked as she never seen his Truck parked in the driveway.

"Yes he is upstairs; go get him, while I finish this." Sharon instructed. Dana walked back into the hall and yelled at the top of her voice.

"HOWIE!" she smiled when she turned to see the disapproving look on her mothers face. A few minutes later Howie came running downstairs and swept his sister into a hug.

"So you looking forward to getting away for a bit?" Howie was being pleasant for some reason.

”Alice more so than me but I think its great how Lenore is making a real effort with Alice and I just now!" Dana said in a tone that was sure to get her point across. Dana’s sexuality had never been accepted by her parents, well mostly her Mother but if they could put there feeling behind them and be civil to Tonya when they were engaged the most her Mother could do was the same for Alice. Maybe that day will come when Dana and Alice are married. Dana always knew in her heart that day would come it might not be for years and years to come but it will happen. Dana then went into say goodbye to her Mother.
