    Author Notes:

    Jess Graduates from High School.

    Previously:

    "Aren’t you coming?" Tina asked. Jess looked at her and then to the sky again.

    "Yeah." She said. She closed the window and climbed into bed next to Tina. Tina wrapped her arms around Jess and they slowly drifted off to sleep.

     

     

     

    Mid June

    Bette being gone had the most lasting affect on Jess. This came as no surprise to Alice or to Tina, because they knew the connection that they had. They were also the only ones that knew that Jess still believed that Bette wasn’t dead and was stranded some where and that is why she hadn’t contacted them. Jess had withdrawn from everyone except Angelica and Laurie, and that was because they were the only ones who didn’t try and make Jess talk about Bette. Every time she was brought up Jess usually left the room. It was just to hard to talk about her to anyone besides Dr. Julia, who she had started seeing three time a week.

     

     

     

    Angelica sat on the floor in Jess’s room playing with ribbons and bows that she had pulled out of the bottom draw in Jess’s vanity. She was making her doll pretty. The radio played in the background. Jess was fussing with her hair. She was wearing a white sun dress. Shannon walked in with a small box and handed it to Jess. She hung Jess’s freshly pressed robe on the door to the closet.

    "What is this?" Jess said. She took the box from her sister.

    "It’s just a little something that I picked up before I came home." Shannon said.

    Jess opened the box a little scared to see what was in it. She pulled out a silver necklace with a small purple stone surrounded by silver charm hanging on it.

    "It’s beautiful, but you didn’t have to." Jess said.

    "I wanted to. I saw in that little jewelry store that you love at the beach." Shannon said.

    "Thank you so much." Jess said and gave her a hug. She carefully placed the necklace in her jewelry box and pulled out her locket. Shannon watched her closely.

    "You don’t want to wear it." She said.

    8. Only Jess wouldn’t give up hope of Bette being alive. Sometimes you need blind faith to get you through the agony. The bond of a parent and child is something that is unbreakable.

Things happen that we have no control over so it is how we face and deal with them that make life what it is. And the final line was perfect. Now I need to know what happened to Bette in the interim and how she got back home. One helluva reunion is in store and given your talent and skills I know that it will be fantastic.     16. AMAZING chapter and writting. It’s true that Jess was the only one who wouldn’t give up on Bette, but as the single head of the household Tina had to try to let go so that she could try to pull her family together. She was not the sole center of their universe and had to try and hold things together. There is NO way that she wanted to let go of Bette (the love of her life), but she had to be there for everyone else. Please continue

    29. Sorry I cheated. I went to last part of the chapter and read that Bette was at the graduation ceremony first. Jess’s speech was awesome and the way she could handle her family in this sad time. It was only Jess that knew that Bette was still alive. Thank you for bringing this family back together. I just loved how you had Bette standing in the shadows and it was not until Jess came to her and stopped in the light that Bette herself stepped into the light. Just Awesome.

    30. REad this last night but my computer would not do the pop-up winedow for some reason. Anyway…that was AWESOME..knew Bette would get home if she could. Happy times ahead, I hope, for the family, especially Bette and Tina. Thanks for a wonderful story.
