Life with Mom and Tina Ch 33
“Its okay did you get everything done that you needed to?” Bette asked.
“I did.” Tina said picking Teddy up out of the swing. She noticed Jess in the corner. “What happened?” She asked. Jess looked at her, and then at Bette.
“attitude” Bette said.
“Again Jess I thought we talked about that.” Tina said. “How much longer?” She asked. Jess shrugged her shoulders. Bette looked the time on the table.
“25 min.” Bette said.
“You know you only have one more strike before the Nintendo for a month.” Tina said sitting down at the end of the table next to Jess. Jess mouthed “I know”.
“I just hope she gets it out of her system before school starts on Monday.” Bette said. Tina looked at Bette.
The timer went off. Jess jumped out of the corner and headed up stairs.
“Hold on a minute we need to talk.” Tina said as Jess ran past her bedroom. Jess stood in the door way. Bette was putting the boys down for a nap in the nursery.
“Come here.” Tina said patting the bed next to her. Jess sat down beside her.
“You want to tell me what is going on?” Tina asked.
“There isn’t anything going on.” Jess said.
“Are you sure?” Tina asked.
“I am sure.” Jess said.
“Well if there is nothing going on then what is with the attitude?” Bette asked. Jess figured the safest way to answer that question was just to shrug her shoulders.
“That’s not an answer.” Bette said.
“We are just worried about you? If you don’t tell us what the problem is then we can’t help you fix it.” Tina said.
“We promise we won’t get upset just tell what is going on.” Bette said.
“What do you want me to say? There nothing wrong with me, and there is nothing going on with me.” Jess said loudly and stormed up stairs and slammed the door.
“That’s new.” Bette said.
“You know it is probably just her getting older. She is getting to the age where most girls start to fight with there mothers. God knows I did.” Tina said.
“I hope not. I hope she never gets like that, but I am afraid you might be right.” Bette said. She started out of the room.

My first thought is Jess got her first period and doesn’t know how to deal with it. That doesn’t explain trying to escape like an Alcatraz prisoner though.
