“Hey baby. How are you?” Bette asked.

“I’m good. How are you?” Jess asked.

“I’m Fine. Are you having fun?” Bette asked.

“Yeah but the other team walked me every time I came up to bat during the game today.” Jess said.

“They did.” Bette said. She felt so much better just hearing Jess’s voice.

“Mom I gotta go the pool is opening in a minute.” Jess said.

“Okay I’ll talk to you later have fun.”

“Okay I love you bye.” Jess said handing the phone back to Lilly.

“Bette?” Lilly said.

“Yeah.” Bette said.

“She really is doing fine.” Lilly said.

“I know I just wanted to talk to her.” Bette said.

“Okay. I guess I will talk to you later.” Lilly said.

“Yeah I will call next week unless something comes up again.” Bette said.

“Okay. You can call any time.” Lilly said.

“I know I talk to you later.” Bette said.

“Okay bye” Bette hung up the phone and Tina walked into the room with the boys and handed Ian to Bette.

“Feel Better?” Tina said.

“Yeah Just hearing her voice is so reassuring. I don’t know what I would do with out her.” Bette said.

“Me either. I can’t wait for Parents weekend in four weeks.” Tina said.

“Yeah but it is nice having time just to ourselves and with the boys.” Bette said.

“Yeah the time alone is nice.” Tina said winking at Bette. Bette smiled

“It sure is.” She said.

“Why don’t we get these guys down so we can have some more time to ourselves.” Tina said.

“Sounds like a plan to me.” Bette said.

CAMP

Jess sat on the fence watching the horses graze. Fran walked up next to Jess.

“So what’s going on?” Fran asked.

“Nothing.” Jess said.

“Is this about the games?” Fran asked. Jess shrugged her shoulders. “Don’t worry about it we are still winning, and that is all that matters.”

“I know.” Jess said.

“Well then what is the problem?” Fran asked.

“I just like watching the horses. Each one of them is like a piece of moving artwork.” Jess said.

“I know it must be hard being walked every time you come up to bat, but you can’t let it get you down.” Fran said.
