Lies My Parents Told Me 3

    Stop teasing me. I grinned.

You should call her. Tina suggested.

I dont have her phone number. Wouldnt you think it was weird if mom got a hold of your phone number without you knowing and then called you? I asked.

No I would have thought it was romantic. Tina said.

Mom doesnt seem like the romantic type, I said.

My mother sighed softly she was thinking and her smile was slowly fading.

Why is she like that? I asked.

It had a lot to do with the way she was raised. Her father was a strict man. Tina replied.

If thats the case then why isnt Aunt Kit like mom? I asked.

Your mother and Kit are two very different people. Tina explained.

Why is she like that with me? Arent parents supposed to learn from the mistakes of there parents and treat there kids different? I asked.

In theory but sometimes we do become our parents whether we know it or not, Tina replied.

I scrunched my face up and my mother laughed.

I think youre safe though. Tina said.

What made you like mom? I asked.

I thought she was absolutely stunning and brilliant. Tina said.

Was it love at first sight? I asked.

It was something. Tina trailed off.

My mother got out of bed and walked over to my open bedroom door. She leaned against the door frame.

Im heading over to the youth center. You should stop by sometime this afternoon and we could have lunch. Tina suggested.

    Okay. I replied.

Try not to stay in bed for too long. Tina said.

My mother closed the door and I closed my eyes again. I stayed in bed for another hour though and finally got out of bed. The first thing I did was walked over to my desk and grabbed my cell phone it was my life line to my circle of friends. I checked my messages and the last one was from Katie. I felt that funny feeling in my stomach just listening to her voice.

This is Katie Peabody and I got your number from one of your friends. I was just calling to see if you would want to do anything. When you get this message just give me a call at 455-9122 okay so I hope Ill hear from you.

    1. I’ve never read nay of your stories before and decided to check this chapter out. I like it; it’s very interesting. It actually reminds me of Romeo and Juliet except is Porter & Peabody. I’m sure things will get very interesting as you write more.
