Chapter 7 – Looking for Answers

Tina had been surprise when Bette didnt show up for the court hearing. By this time Tina wasnt as raging mad, still mad but more confused and now looking for answers. Kit was there with a lawyer representing Bette. Figures, I now mean so little to Bette that she wont even grace me with her presence. Tina thought. Tina was actually badly hurt. She had mentally prepared herself for a huge showdown between herself and Bette. You know Bette, everything had to be over the top with drama. Tina couldnt think of a better stage then in a court of law. But to have the whole proceedings not even mean enough for Bette to bother to make an appearance left Tina wondering just when they started loosing their way. Was it when I quit my job? Or when her work began taking over? Did I become a burden to Bette? All I wanted was for us to be happy. Was that wrong? With these thoughts swirling in Tinas head, she approached Kit after the hearing.
Tina: Kit wait up. Since when did you become the stooge who does Bettes bidding?
Kit knew Tina would have lots of questions and the sad truth is that Kit promised Bette she would stay silent on anything to do with where Bette is and what she is doing.
Kit: Tiiinnna Kit stalled. Honey, how are you?
Tina: Angry, Hurt, Betrayed. Wheres Bette?
Kit: I I really wish that I could tell you. I really do. This is something that is yours and Bettes to deal with and Im sorry Im here instead of her. At this moment I have made promises so I really cant say much and what I can say to you is limited. I wish there was more.
Tina looked at Kit hard and could see that she was uncomfortable. But still Tina wanted some answers. The more Tina stared the more uncomfortable Kit became. Kit began to shift from on foot to the other. Finally Kit said: Tina please, believes me when I want what is best for the two of you. What my sister did was just plain stupid.
Tina whispers: She has moved on hasnt she? She has someone else.
Kit: NNO NO dont think that. Tina, Bette still loves you.
Tina anger returning: Well she has a funny way of showing. You know she seems to have moved on and I have too. Kit thanks for everything, I will see you around. And with that Tina turns and walks out of the courthouse, leaving Kit frowning and shaking her head. Kit to herself: That girl still loves my baby sis.
