Lady Slayer
Chapter 33
Tina sat and looked ahead; her eyes couldn’t seem to move from the urn, still standing on the lush grass, still surrounded by the dancing sunlight, still containing the ashes of the woman that Bette’s emotions were running freely for.
Her arms remained tightly wound around Bette, one around her shoulders, holding her close to her chest, the other allowing her hand to rest on Bette’s head, her fingers gently stroking her, playing with her hair…
The uncontrollable sobbing that had wracked Bette’s body, the ones that had brought tears to Tina’s own eyes and the ache in her chest were gone.
Bette’s sobs had eased to the hiccupping stage.
“How…, how did you…, know…?” Bette asked quietly against Tina’s chest.
Tina ‘s mind became alert at the muffled words at her chest, her eyes broke away from the urn as she felt Bette moving to face her.
She looked into the deep dark eyes and her heart did the combination of pounding and aching.
It pounded because she knew in that very moment that her ‘need’ to find a way back, no matter what, was the right one.
And it ached because all she wanted to do was to take away the pain that was so engrained in those deep, dark eyes.
“How T…, how…, did you know…?”
Tina’s thumb brushed away the droplet travelling slowly down Bette’s cheek, “I just…, I don’t know…, I just had a feeling that…”
“Lily died…?”
“No…, that you needed me…”
Bette gave a slight smile, “like you’ll never know…”
“Why didn’t you call me?”
“I couldn’t…”
“I called you…”
“I know…”
“You do? But…”
“I couldn’t Tina, it all happened so…”
“Quick?”
“Well yeah but…, it’s…”
“It’s okay…” Tina reassured as Bette’s eyes welled once again.
Bette took a deep breath as she glanced towards the urn, “saying it aloud would have made it all real…”
“Oh babe…” Tina said as she pulled Bette closer.
Maxy sat on the wall above the stained glass window, watching her daughter and the blonde woman who held her closely. She had a feeling about her, the blonde…, she looked like she was looking after her daughter…, she gave a sigh of contentment…, at last she had her ‘one’.

That was beautiful and love it. Please post more, thanks!
I’d type a comment, except I can’t really see the screen from the tears pouring down my face….
Hey Levi’s Lady! Liked that huh. LOL! But you are, and you know it. Hee Hee. Mate, this was f*cking brilliant and VERY emotional to say the least. Bette will get through this loss, because they (Bette & Tina) will be on the road to healing together. I loved how you brought this chapter to a close. On a side note, how weird it is that B is texting me JUST as I finished reading this one?! She’s not only a whistler, but a pyschic too! LOL! Thanks Jo! More when time allows.
This brought tears to my eyes. Just beautiful!
after I saw that you posted, I went “YAY” then I said to myself….oh heck I bet it’s a water works chapter. I was right. *sigh* Beautifully written as always. And missed as always too!! PPS!!!
Beautifully written.
Beautiful!
Your writing is always amazing. This was no different. I always expect excellence when I read your stories.
What a beautiful and emotionally charged chapter. You’ve shown the camparison of love between the two couples and you did it in such a beutiful way. It goes w/o saying that the love between Maxy and Lily will endure forever in the hearts and mind sof Bette and Tina but also in ours as well because of the way in which you have written about them and their love and the very vivid picture with which you have left us. Thank you so much for bringing this story to us and letting us live vicariously thru them.
Jo, I could spout a whole load of words but none would aptly praise this piece you have written! Jo, mate you rock!
This was so touching! I hope what you’ve described for Maxy and Lily is true.
very nice Jo… loved the way maxy and lily joined together… and how they knew bette and tine would also be together for ever…

Awesome Jo! The way you wrote this was so touching. It’s sad that Lily’s gone, but now she and Maxy will never be apart again. Love the way Tina knew Bette needed her, and went to her without a second thought. Can’t wait for Tina to see Lily’s statue – she’s gonna love it! Lovely Jo! More please!
Made me cry, you are terrific

I believe that was what used to be referred to as ‘going to one’s reward’.
Great to see you back! This post was enchanting…. just perfect!
Mate… had I known this would be what I get in return, I would’ve started sooner! Amazing chappy, I’m so touched and teary I can’t even think of something that would do justice to your writing! You rock Jo! Ok, I’m off to continue with my little project… maybe I’ll get another post soon! Yoo hoo! xx
Glad you’re back. I’ve missed this story. Absolutely beautiful.
My eyes are full with tears, so forgive me if you see some mistakes, what a beautiful and touching chapter, indeed it was a unique experience for all of us, I had so many strange emotions while reading it, I am happy that Bette has somebody to be by her side in such difficult situation, My god the last four lines were so heart warming.Your come backs are always remember able, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your decision to still continue writing this amazing story.Love
you made me cry again…it was so beautiful
This is the most beautiful story. I hope you don’t have to keep us away from it for so long again. I love how Tina just feels what Bette is feeling and what she needs. I know this has to end sometime but I hope it’s not for a long while. PPS
Dang it Jo, you have to stop making me cry. This was a very moving, emotional ride that Bette has taken. I loved the last part when Maxy said that she loved Bette and Bette answered her back. Now a new couple will step into that light and path that Maxy and Lily took before them.
