Jodi sat in Kelly’s office at the site of the newest Wentworth gallery patiently waiting to hear plan B as the two plotted their vengeance against Bette Porter. Val’s steadfast loyalty to Bette and Peggy and her refusal to move her exhibit from the Porter Gallery was disappointing but it wasn’t the end of the world. They could still accomplish what they set out to do. They just needed a different tactic and Kelly devious mind was already working overtime.

“I think I’m going to pay Bette a visit.” Kelly announced.

“And what get the door slammed in your face?” Jodi asked cynically

“Just hear me out. My mother told me that she and Peggy are talking about doing the grant recipient reception together this year. This is Bette’s pet project as much as Peggy’s so she’ll be very involved in the planning and execution. It will be the first time in history that Wentworth and Peabody will be on the same stage as joint partners and I have no doubt Peggy will have Bette sharing the limelight. All I need to do is convince my mother to involve me so we get equal exposure. She’s already thrilled that I’m taking an active interest in the art galleries and this would be an opportunity to promote our new agenda. More importantly she would love for Bette and me to make amends. If we’re forced to work together on this project maybe we can rekindle our friendship. I’ll show her how sorry I am and hopefully she’ll let bygones be bygones. Mother would encourage it. She always liked Bette and never understood what happened between us to end the friendship.”

“You’ll have to do a hell of an acting job to pull that off. Do you really think you can get close to her again?” Jodi asked still not convinced.

“It’s worth a try. I need to get Bette to put her guard down. Val is right she won’t give me the time of day if she doesn’t trust me and after the stunt I just pulled she’s going to be even more cautious.” Kelly realized that Jodi was right. She’d have to be extremely ingenious to pull this off.
