Just The Girl – Chapter Thirty Five (a HYD-inspired fic)
“Ass.” Tina rolled her eyes and laughed, nearly spewing the food inside her mouth onto Bette.
“Ewww! Maybe moving here was a wrong idea..” Bette made a face and put up the napkin on her lap protectively like a shield. She saw the blonde glare at her, making her break out into a laugh. “I’m kidding.” She grinned as she leaned closer to Tina and placed a few quick kisses on her girlfriend’s pouting lips. “Mmmm..” She licked her lips as she pulled back. “Salty and greasy!” She laughed as Tina swatted her head with her own napkin.

“I’ll pay for our meal, Porter.” Tina wiggled her eyebrows as she smugly put out a couple of rolled bills on the table. For the first time in a few years, Tina Kennard was loaded. She got a nifty raise in her allowance, all thanks to the bonus her dad got for his promotion.
“Too late.” Bette grinned as she stuck her credit card inside the black leather case and handed the bill back to the waiter.
“W-wait!” Tina tried to protest but the server had already gone to swipe the card on the machine. “Fine.” Tina huffed in annoyance. “But I get to pay for our next meal, okay?” She lifted an eyebrow and challenged her Type-A girlfriend.
“We’ll see.” Bette answered plainly, not wanting to commit. She wanted Tina to save whatever money she had. She had enough for the both of them.. well.. for now at least.
“Excuse me, ma’am?” The waiter politely interrupted as he bent down to whisper at Bette. “The card was declined.” He coughed out as he discreetly returned the golden credit card to the brunette.
“Are you sure?” Bette frowned as she fished out her wallet from inside her bag.
“Yes, ma’am.” The waiter answered. “I tried it four times on the machine.” He explained.
“Oh okay..” Bette placed the card back inside her wallet and took out another one. “Here..” She handed it over to the waiter. Well that was weird, she furrowed her brows in confusion. The card was working a few minutes ago, she mused, she had just used it inside the souvenir shop to buy the stuffed toy and shirts.

Strike one up for Bette. She is standing up to her father and showing Tina the depth of her feelings at the same time. After growing up with unlimited riches, I think it would be extraordinarily difficult to be left penniless. I hope Bette returns after reading Tina’s letter. Great story!
I’m usually the one sitting or standing in the wrong place, I can relate. Got drenched at Disneyland 3 times in 1 day…
Tina’s dad is funny. Poor Bette and Tina but hope they will fight to be together.
I have been gone all day & am just know getting achance to catch up on my Fav. Fic. This was another awesome update…makes me want to go to Sea World minus the breaking up part. I hope they work things out-w/ a little help from Alice & Shane. I have just 1 request…please no more Max.
First of all LMAO at Daddy Kennard being heartbroken about getting a promotion. Then what the hell is Tina thinking throwing things out there without explaining first…we all know Bette reacts at the first word and doesn’t listen. However, Bette better start listening if she doesn’t want to become just like Melvin…alone and bitter.
first?????? youpiiiiiiiiiiiken is so funny? How did he work out promotion = fired?PMSLNow it s time for he F4 to show their support to their leader, help Bette fae and beat her father on that challenge. Great chapter, very funny with Tina’s dad but sad that Tina and Bette fought. They need each other right now to be strong against Melvin.PPS
