    This hatchet-burying is going to be exhausting.

    Bette stepped out of the beach house, and found Tina and Angelica sitting on a spot in the beach a few meters away.

    Since reconciling with Tina, even just as friends, Bette had noticed that other than Angelica, Tina did not openly share her concerns with anyone. Angelica had become Tina’s confidant, who knew Tina’s highs and lows without question.

    As Tina’s best friend, Bette felt guilty that even though they knew each other so intimately, for some reason she and Tina still had an invisible barrier between them, one that neither she nor Tina could break.

    The friendship had not started well, and they fought more than they should. It had become their pattern, the fighting, for so long.

    Yes, how they had fought.

    The fighting, raw and angry as it would be when it happened, led to the two women clearing the air of issues long waiting in the wings. By yelling at each other, they were able to say things they had kept to themselves for years. The things that worried them, the things that had caused them to pull away from each other. The things that they merely accepted when they should have fought for it. About Bette. About Tina.

    Inevitably the fighting had led to an uneasy truce, allowing the two women to understand each other, the differences and changes they had undergone in the years they had known each other.

    Helena came up behind Bette, interrupting Bette’s reverie.  She followed the mocha beauty’s gaze down the beach, at where Tina and Angelica were having what seemed to be a heart-to-heart talk over a semi-finished sandcastle. "Your family."

    Bette laughed lightly, but Helena did not miss the pain and wistfulness hidden in the laugh. "That’s my daughter."

    "And that’s the woman who gave birth to your daughter." Helena added.

    "Sure," Bette shrugged.

    "I’ll admit, half the time I wonder why I stick around. Or why she’s still with me." Helena told her. "Especially when I already know forever is not a concept that applies."

    "So why do you?"

    "Because when she tells me she loves me I believe her."

    Bette glanced at her, annoyance crossing her features. "Why are you pushing this? You already have her."

    2. Ooooooo Angelica is a sly one. First getting Bette’s clothes wet with a hug, then asking Tina is she loved Bette. What I learned from TLW fanfiction: Bette in Levi’s will NEVER go out of style.

    7. I’m loving the exchange between Bette and Helena. Helena see exactly what is happening, yet can do nothing. I’m glad you noted that they had been together for less than a year, although I see Tina and Helena as a good couple, it’s evident who Tina really wants, even if she is not admitting it.

    8. Whooooooaaaa, Angelica is pulling a fast one on Bette and Tina. Can we guess who she wants Tina to be with. Jobage’s levis must be well worn by now. I like Helena but not with Bette or Tina because they belong with each other and NOBODY ELSE. OBTW, your stories most deservedly garner a vote (well mine).

    10. so i’m all caught up – but wishing this was a book so i could keep reading through the night & finish it! (13 chapters – one night!) so are they going to admit they all love each other & don’t want to give t up – & just get the threesome agreed lready. I love the anguish you put them through Tiff – no one does it like you!

    14. i think helena is right, safe isn’t always what’s best…i think b&T should go for the other option, because i think tina also chose safe so far with helena because she knows it’s not forever…can’t wait for B&T just stop pretending and get back together

    16. Seems like Helena is forcing Bette to stake her claim, much against B’s wishes. She maybe just wants to get the heartbreak over with quickly. But I think it’ll be down to Tina. Seems like Angie’s going to call her mother out on it as well. Thanks for posting this chapter so quickly.

    26. good on Angel….she has the right actions and questions for her moms…now what’s Helena up to? Has she a new love interest and is trying to let Tina down easy by passing her back to Bette’s capable hands!!!!!!Gotta love your story but it worries this Tibetta as to where u r taking it…and agreed, I don’t know who to choose for fanfic awards…who made up the rulz??? and do they have to be this way??? I like so many writers and stories…PPS
