    Jess — Plan B; pt. 40

Lunch is over. I survived. Mostly.

So there was one slight spew incident. That was Aunt Alice’s fault, and she knows it, too.

At least when it was over, mom and Bette Porter didn’t slobber all over each other in the parking lot. Mom pulled that Porter woman aside, which made me really nervous.

Aunt Shane laughed at me. Ok, so maybe Aunt Shane sort of knows Bette Porter, but she doesn’t see all of the trouble the woman is causing in my life. I mean, c’mon. Who asked her to be here? She invited herself.

And then suddenly it’s my fault that I’m spewing? I don’t think so.

Next time I’m sitting across from Bette Porter. Not only will she not be seated across from mom that way, but just in case, she’d be the intended target. Not like I’m planning anything non-accidental, but you know what I mean, I’m sure.

    “Jess, relax.”

Easy for you to say, Aunt Shane.

“Jess.” She tossed an arm over my shoulder. I shrugged it off. I don’t want anyone to be nice to me today.

For a few moments, I can forget that I have to go to school tomorrow, and stuff like that.

The worst part, if you really want to know the truth, is the look in mom’s eyes. I can tell when she’s thinking about Friday night by the way that she looks at me. Geez. I really hope that it won’t take long for her to get over that look.

Sometimes I try to figure out why I do some of the things that I do. The kind of make sense at the time, I guess. But then later, they don’t. Weird, huh.

“Jess.” Aunt Shane is at it again, being nice and all that. This time I just look over at her.

    “You cool about everything?”

Let’s see, life over, mom leaving, me hated. Yup. “I guess.”

“I’m going to be gone until Wednesday, but you know you can always call, right?”

“Yeah.” At least she’s persistent. I probably would have given up on me by now.

“So, Jess, having the friends over today?”

    1. Ahhh, the slow, sweet delicious torture or your stories! I never imagined that I would so willingly surrender myself to such a tease. As for Bon Bons? I have forsaken them and I now subsist on your stories alone. OK, perhaps that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but I am finding that your story is becoming my primary vice. Thank you, by the way.

Jess was her usual teenage center of the universe. Love both Alice and Shane’s pestering. So ‘aunt’ like. Will Bette be asked to watch Jess? If so, will one or both of them end up friends…or end up in neon orange jumpsuits waiting for visitor’s day?

Cliffhangers are becoming quite your forte, sucker punched again!!

    2. oh, poor baby, life so busy, no time for bon-bons. Were you able to get to those soap operas? ha, ha.

I just love this series! Where should I send those bon bons?! It’s on it’s way! Thanks for writing, even when it’s a short one; it’s good!

    3. Here it comes, can’t wait to hear what she has to say, great update, maybe I should send you some bon bons so you don’t have to leave the computer LOL

    4. Aw at this rate, Bette’s going to have to save Jess from getting hit by a bus or something to get her to come around. Or maybe lock them in a room together until they either kill one another or become friends. Great update!

    5. Nice to wake up to an update this morning. And I know what kind of mischief you can get into when you feel ignored, so even though the chapter was short, it was enjoyable as usual.

    6. P – You know I love your story. Then banter back and forth is hilarious. Keeping us captivated by your story of when. When will B&T get a little bit closer. I love it. This good on and on without getting them together. Just a lot of dating and uh maybe some ah… But this is still truly an awesome story. Thanks P

    7. Another great chapter. Take as long as you like to tell the story. I’m thinking that Tina may have to go somewhere on business and Jess will be stuck with Bette, after all Shane said she was going to be gone. Great Story.
