    Introductions – 7 [Final Chapter]

“***** walking takes it out of you,” Alice complained to herself as she finally arrived at her apartment door. She was weighed down with groceries, mostly organic ones for Dana, after realising that Dana had been living, without complaint, on junk food for the past few days.

“Alice,” Ella’s voice echoed through the hallway as she swung the door open to find Alice struggling to balance groceries and find her keys at the same time. “I thought I heard a ruckus outside.”

“Thanks Ella,” Alice said coldly as she passed the blonde, who at no point attempted to carry any of the groceries she was struggling to hold.

“You just missed Dana by like five minutes,” Ella said as she closed the front door and walked over to the lounge. At the mention of Dana’s name Alice dropped the groceries and ran into the living room, falling in front of Ella in a heap.

“What? And you, you were here?” Alice suddenly realised how this would have looked to Dana. “WH-What did she say?”

Ella didn’t let her eyes leave the television as she answered Alice.

“She said something about changing her flight,” Ella replied casually. “And she took all her stuff. She also said something about not acting soon enough or, actually you know what I can’t really remember.”

“You can’t remember?” Alice was almost dying on the spot. To think Dana had come back here to find… Ella. “You did tell her we weren’t together right? And that you were just staying here tonight because your new ***** girlfriend kicked you out…” Alice waited impatiently for a response, tears forming in her eyes. “Please tell me you told her. Please.”

Ella finally broke her gaze with the television to look at Alice, who in the space of a minute had become a visual wreck.

“I told her the truth,” she stated simply. “I know you were just going through a ‘hard to get’ phase, I mean all relationships have their problems, I just assumed can work ours out…”

“No!” Alice interrupted Ella, restraining herself from strangling the annoying blonde. “We do not have anything to work out Ella; I made that clear to you this afternoon! You ran off with some bimbo *****, leaving me high and dry a month ago and I…” Alice stopped wondering whether or not to continue. “***** it… I’m in love with Dana.”
