If You Never Say Anything to Me ch.20

If You Never Say Anything to Me

    Chapter 20

The trip to Spokane went wonderfully. Garret, the curator is such a knowledgeable man that we spent a lot of time talking about our favorite artists and the reasons they were our favorites. He and I shared one in common and we both learned new information from our talks. The atmosphere was relaxed and being a new artist, I didn’t feel intimidated by being in such a glorious gallery.

We talked about my works. My motivations and my visions. I had not really thought about either. I painted because I did. He wouldn’t accept that. He said it was a cop out. In truth, after talking, I realized I painted because I had to. It was something that was inside of me and although I had buried it for years, it never went away. My paintings of today were me. They were my thoughts and my feelings. They were my saving grace against an event that could have destroyed me. They were my lifeline at a time when the rope was not very long for me to hold onto.

My vision was not as easy for me to define. I thought that for some to see my works was what I wanted but that wasn’t enough. I wanted others to feel my emotions that were emitted off the canvas. I wanted others to notice the subtle changes in my strokes as the emotions became more intense. I wanted this to be a real part of my life. I no longer wanted it to be hidden. Hiding it was hiding me and that would always keep me stagnant. Every day that I painted, I created a new image either on canvas or in my mind. I felt alive again and I wanted to continue feeling alive.

Garret and I talked about the show that he was having in October. He wanted 8 of my works to be showcased during the show but only if I was committed to it. He had artists who were serious about their works. It was their career. He also had artist who had turned their hobby into a larger part of their life. For me, he wanted to know if I was serious. If I was willing to be out for the show and to do the interviews that would inevitably occur once my works were discovered. Without hesitation, I told him that I was serious. I wanted to do this and regardless to what else I had going on in my life, I was ready to commit to the idea of complete participation in his show.

    1. Well, howdoyoulikethat? Tina asked Bette out! Heehee! Love the honesty and straightforwardness. And, boyohboy, do you write fast! Guess you just had a teeny nap last night! :) Date chapter please!

    2. LOL! I had to laugh as the fireworks crack and whistle in my neighborhood… totally identify with being too lazy to care! Love the story!!! PPS!!! SK/C

    3. NAG…you’ve done it again. Super update. At least in this story, Bette gets a family who loves her. That was good that Tina decided to tell Bette who she supped with…but technically she didin’t really owe Bette an explanation at this point in their relationship. Dying for the next chapter, as usual.

    4. I am an extremely happy camper due to reading the last two chapters. I love how Bette and Tina are taking things slowly. The fireworks were wild here. The entire beach was lit up for at least 2 hours. I was surprised because the cops let it go when fireworks are banned. But it was a spectular show.

    5. wooooohooooo can’t wait for the date!!!Its good how they have started their relationship honest and straightforward with other.Bette now knows that Eric is in Tina’s life as a friend so she hasn’t really got to worry about why he is there. 5 hours on the phone that mut be one expensive phone bill lol. PPS thanks

    6. Go Tina Go! I am so glad she asked Bette for the date. I think it means she is ready to explore her feelings for women and particularly Bette. I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the evening she has planned! I hope it includes more hand holding and a kiss or two as well… :>)

    7. Finally, now Bette neds to invite Tina to the show. They seem like a great match. Hope to read more soon I for one am following both of your stories so would be happy to see a chapter of WOO soon also.

    8. Everyone needs a loving man in their life Bette has Bob also his wife Mary. Melvin is a big a&&. So glad Bette called Tina and Tima returned her call. So dinner the next night. thanks so much for posting.

    9. Love this story and love both of your stories as you well know. Glad this chapter turned out as it did, in that Tina was honest about dinner with Eric and Bette receptive of the friendship. I thought she needed to tell her in person rather than the telephone. Obviously your B and T are so very different than some we’ve seen before. Happy they are going out on that date. And I will be so happy when we can read about it. They are so lovely together. melvin in this story is more of an a–hole than original and Bob is the dream stepfather for her. Good and loving man, just the kind of father she needs in her life. Can we please have the date chapter tomorrow, pretty please? lol PPS

    10. Just caught up – two great chapters – I really like the detail of what is important to each of them and how they handle their feelings. Appreciate your writing very much.
