If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 1

If You Never Say Anything to Me

    Chapter 1

“I can’t help you if you never say anything to me,” Tina Kennard said to her uncooperative patient Bette Porter. She was exasperated with the most breath takingly beautiful woman who sat before her in silence week after week. She felt if she could just get her to say anything, the walls that were built so solidly would eventually fall but thus far, no luck. It was something she was willing to bide her time with but still felt at a loss as to how to help.

Bette sat there looking out the window sometimes smiling at a thought or frowning at a remembrance. It was the same position she took each week when she went to Dr. Tina Kennard’s office. She wasn’t there by choice so she said nothing. No hello upon arrival…no goodbye upon departure….nothing. She walked in on time, sat for 50 minutes and walked out again. The routine was something she welcomed since it was one of the few times that she left the house during the week. Welcoming and actually committing were two entirely differing concepts so Bette said nothing and felt no guilt about it. If she felt at some point to talk she would but now was not that time.

Tina and Bette came to meet every Wednesday for 50 minutes after Bette, a LAPD detective was shot in the line of duty. Tina, the department psychologist was supposed to meet with her to ensure that she got the therapy needed to deal with such a traumatic event and to monitor her readiness to return to work. Bette was not cooperative and Tina was not a magician so they just sat as time passed by both of them. Tina had met with many officers who were more seasoned than Bette and more hostile but they at least talked if nothing more than the weather or their favorite sports team. So many conversations about the Lakers had taken place in this office that Tina had actually taken up watching them play so she could have something to contribute to conversations that inevitably came up.

Tina had the case file. She knew the details and she could bring them up in hopes it would make Bette more receptive to being there but she hadn’t thus far. That wasn’t the way she worked. Bette had to be willing to discuss what happened. If she wasn’t, she wasn’t doing the therapy in a manner that would benefit her. Tina had all the time in the world and as time passed it allowed her to see that she enjoyed her Wednesday meetings with Bette. She was beautiful and her energy was affecting Tina in ways she had never felt before nor ever expected to feel…especially about one of her patients. For months now, Tina had been questioning her sexuality. Some was attributed to having Shane, lesbian extraordinaire as a best friend and also having a large lesbian clientele. They were no more than just thoughts but Bette had begun to weigh heavily on her mind.

    1. Hahaaaa…imagine how excited I was to finish reading Windows and to find a new NAG story on the home page! Bravo…well written…unique. I can’t wait for another update on this story.

    2. What a surprise, a new story and I like it very much. Wonder where you will take us on this new beginning adventure of Tina and Bette. Post when you can. BTW, I don’t care that Window will continue on, IT SHOULD.

    3. First of all I love your Windows story and would love to see it continue on and on and on. This story seems extremely interesting. I would love to see how this relationship devolpes from this weekly meeting.

    4. Yea!!!!Glad to hear that WOO may never end!!! You know how much I love it. BTW, I really like your approach on this one, it’s new and refreshing. You are a fantastic writer. Keep it up!

    5. HOOKED!! take your time with each story no rushing from me… i’ll still read which ever when ever you post. don’t forget to enjoy your summer though. :)PPS

    6. This is starting out to be a very interesting story about “our girls.” Especially the different careers and different personalities of the characters. You are developing this story so very well and I can hardly wait for the next chapter just to see where you take them and us. Tina and Shane are correct, she needs to end things with Eric and move on and explore the possibilities with women, especially one tall, elegant, cafe’ au lait skinned beauty. Who knows maybe the beauty has a thing for Tina as well. We don’t know because she isn’t telling us her thoughts at the moment. Post when you can.

    7. A new story! Ilicked on this before I realised it was you – needless to say you have a ready-made fan base. Looking forward to seeing where this is going.

    8. oh well…or is it oh hell? I’m hooked anywayz. Hugs to baby G from Aunty Rau; wish I could come babysit while u sleep a bit. Interesting that u get $$$ to develop a curriculum; here in NZ its an expectation laid on H.O.Ds. When I arrived at my present school the curriculum for my department was krap and as a HOD I had turn rewrite a Social Sciences Curriculum for the entire school…sheez!!! No extra money.

    9. OH NAG, I can so get into it, thank you, thank you , thank you, I know you didn’t want to get into both of them at once but love that WoO has taken a life of it’s own. Now, let the good times roll. I’ll be peaking in to see if you posted more often. Have a great weekend w/little G. Md

    10. great start, its a totally different approach to a B&T story and i like it LOL. also totally differnt from WOO (which i hope never ends BTW) but it is equally as interesting already.can’t wait for your next post Thanks
